I had a one night stay, alone, in a single room, which was competitively priced.
The staff were very friendly and attentive and helpful.
The bed was a large single bed, which was comfy, and I had a good night's sleep.
The shower and bathroom were fine and reasonably modern but the rest of the decor of the room was, as I had expected it would be, very tired and dated.
The breakfast was adequate.
The location is excellent - second to none, with fantastic views over the lively prom and out to sea.
I will not be the first person to say this and I have no pleasure in saying this: The Queens Hotel is a grand and proud old lady of Penzance but, unfortunately, she has been neglected for decades.
The hotel cries out for investment which will need to run to millions to bring it properly up to date. So much of the feel of the decor and the facilities takes you back as far as the 60s.
This does not mean that it is not possible to have a very pleasant stay at the Queens but I hope I live to see the day when the hotel once again is given the love and the investment that it deserves.
Le scale su e giù fra i piani e i mezzanini

Brilliant views! Improvements since my last visit: electronic door locks; new windows. I had a spacious bedroom which was great.
The bathroom was antiquated and poorly equipped as no where to put my bathroom things other than the floor.
At breakfast I had croissants that I got reheated except on the last day I had to get into a verbal fight with the lady who told me that reheating croissants was against health and safety legislation. It isn't, and it was her misfortune to meet someone who can quote the legislation because of my work. In the end sense prevailed and I got my heated croissants. Early check in was declined, but my travel was delayed by traffic jams so no problem.
Room lighting is antiquated too. And why does everything have multiple stickers saying it had been checked? I have never seen that in any other hotel before.
Range of options at breakfast is fabulous
Staff are an absolute delight
The chairs in reception and the bar have been reupholstered since my last stay and are fab
Very competitive price
How long it takes to get to Penzance and a little bit of heaven from the midlands!!
The restaurant was very good, good wide menu for dinner and breakfast
Hotel was clean, and lovely room with wonderful sea-view. Convenient for town. Staff were mostly excellent. Food nothing special but it was ok. Personally I'd go out for dinner in a local restaurant. The wine was good. Breakfast was fine. I ate it all (Full English)
On arrival, Receptionist was 10 mins on phone to a customer. but didn't acknowledge our presence, and when she finished the call she didn't even say "Sorry to keep you waiting." As a first impression, not the best start. In fairness, she was perfectly pleasant otherwise.
Also, the hotel was once rather grand, but looks a bit faded now. Tired and slightly forlorn. Needs some money to smarten it up.
Restaurant was excellent
