If you look at the pictures, that is exactly how the place looks, super nice with the huge tropical plants and vines you feel like in the tropics right on the beach - very cool. You are also right on the beach. The staff was all super nice and helpful.
If you come here: check the season and why you are coming to Tulum (because if it is the beach, you need to check for the season)
1) car: you will need a car if you are here, as you are in the hotel zone you can still only walk that much, so either you need a taxi, rent a bike or have a car. There are some restaurants and a minimarket nearby. But without a car you don't go anywhere.
2) swimming: you have two options the ocean or tiny pool (for cool down not swimming): if you are here during the sea weed time which we were (and check it, it only gets worse) we were unable to go into the ocean - so you can sit in the beach and cool down in the pool that's it. They were super nice and gave us a day pass for a hotel inside the Jaguar park, where we could park for free and here it is better, as they have netting in the ocean and clean up - still we didn't want to go in the ocean it is not like on the pictures.
3) fridge versus balcony: when we booked we took the apartment which had a fridge (as we really like cold drinks) and a coffee maker - but then you do not have a balcony - so you are either inside your AC'd room or at the beach - but can't relax, the nice Garden villas: are cute but in trade for the balcony you have no fridge.
And as we were here in the "humid" season there were tons of mosquitos/flies: we got a lot of bites: so even if we would traded in for the balcony room - we wouldn't sat outside.
Because we came for the beach (which was not existing, we checked out 3 days earlier, even we couldn't get a refund - and were happy as we headed north to Cancun where there is nearly no sea weed and we got an all-inclusive for the same price.
Rien, car rien ne correspondait à ce qui nous a été vendu
Nous avions payé 1 944 € pour six nuits à l’Alaya Beachfront Tulum, en pensant séjourner dans une suite de luxe puisque décrit ainsi dans l’annonce. Or, la chambre ne correspondait absolument pas à cette catégorie : son état général, son entretien et ses équipements étaient très décevants.
Nous avons quitté l’hôtel après seulement deux nuits en raison de nombreux problèmes de propreté, d’entretien, d’équipements et de prestations, mais surtout de sécurité car la serrure avait été forcée et non réparée. Nous avons dû chercher un autre hôtel et payer à nouveau les quatre nuits restantes, ce qui a considérablement augmenté le coût de notre séjour. La porte et son système de fermeture étaient fortement détériorés, ce qui nous a fait craindre pour notre sécurité. L’établissement n’était pas suffisamment sécurisé, car son accès était ouvert à la fois depuis la rue et depuis la plage.
Par ailleurs, le bar de plage, présenté sur les photos comme un espace paradisiaque, était fermé pendant notre séjour.
Le ménage n’a pas été effectué le deuxième jour et les serviettes n’ont pas été remplacées. Malgré les photos, les vidéos et les signalements transmis pendant le séjour, nous n’avons pas obtenu le remboursement des nuits non utilisées.
Compte tenu du prix payé, des frais supplémentaires engagés pour trouver un autre hôtel, de l’état de la chambre, du manque de sécurité et des prestations indisponibles, nous ne recommandons absolument pas cet établissement.

Die Unterkunft liegt direkt am Strand und sieht von außen auch ganz nett aus. Es wird Yoga angeboten, welches uns gut gefallen hat.
Ruhe und Erholung waren aufgrund einer Großbaustelle direkt neben der Anlage kaum möglich. Zusätzlich war der Strand stark von Seegras betroffen, wofür das Hotel natürlich nichts kann. Das Frühstück hat uns weder von der Auswahl noch qualitativ überzeugt. Die Zimmer waren zwar grundsätzlich sauber, aber sehr einfach ausgestattet – kein Kühlschrank, kein Wasserkocher und kaum Möglichkeiten, sich selbst Getränke zuzubereiten. Im Vergleich zu den anderen Unterkünften unserer Yucatán-Rundreise konnte uns diese Anlage leider nicht überzeugen.

Our stay in Alaya hotel in Tulum was absolutely amazing! Everything exceeded our expectations from the moment we arrived. The rooms were spotless, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable. The location was perfect—close to everything while still feeling peaceful and surrounded by nature.
The beach was breathtaking, with crystal-clear waters.

De badkamer kan wel een opfrissing gebruiken, douche met houten planken, vieze hoeken in de badkamer.
Het zeewier en de stank die erbij komt, maar daar kan het hotel niets aan doen natuurlijk. Tulum was ook een spookstad met belachelijke prijzen, maar dat staat los van het hotel.
The rooms were clean, the views amazing. The place is quiet and everyone was more than accommodating and nice.
Just a place we are telling our friends about and hope to return.

Excelente atencion y ubicacion
It is old classic Tulum style and it is quaint and botique.
But certain things were not working. A/C is not robust, no shades on the front window so everyone outside can see into the bathroom, cracks allowing mosquitos into the room, LED lights not all working so stairways were extra dark and hard to navigate in the evening. Juice watered down at breakfast, trying to be sold on tours when we just wanted more local spots. Prices are like hawaii all over Tulum now so be prepared for that.
Excellent experience. Room was beautiful and the service was 100% . Sofia our concierge was so helpful and took care of several asks and special trips she organized for us, made it a lifetime memory! Will definitely be going back and recommending to my friends and family!
