Hotel La Guaria Inn & Suites

I’m gutted I didn’t stay somewhere half the price as this was so bad it could not be worse. Windowless stuffy room, everything cheap and nasty, dreadful characterless white bread breakfast. Dirty shower.

Two good things. A very friendly and helpful receptionist when I arrived and an efficient airport shuttle. That’s it.

If I could give no stars, I would.

I can't understand how this hotel had an 8 out of 10 rating! I booked it because I was arriving late in San Jose. They also offered a shuttle from the airport to the hotel. First off, it took awhile to get in touch with the front desk to ask for the pick up. Then it took a full half hour for a taxi to get us. When we exited the taxi, the first thing we see is a shattered entrance door. I was thinking what kind of a place is this. Check in was quick as it was now around 10pm. We had a room on the first floor. There were several rooms in this corridor. The room was small, totally outdated and sparse in everyway. We had been traveling most of the day and wanted a shower. Let the water run for 10 minutes and no hot at all. Loud air conditioning unit and interruptions from heavy wood doors slamming late at night. Then at 7 am kids were in the pool making all kinds of noise. Needless to say we got hardly any sleep. I would not recommend this place at all!

This place is not even a 1 star located in a slum area very scary to even consider staying here .

Housekeeping and breakfast prep staff were EXCELLENT and ALWAYS willing to help in any way. I enjoyed 3 days in Alajuela and the hotel was central to everything!

Do not rely on the “24/7 shuttle service” we had to find our way to and from the airport as they were not responsive or not available. I even tried asking them if I could schedule an airport pickup ahead of time and they said no just wait someone will answer, but that did not happen.

However, the place was pretty clean and the breakfast was nice and convenient

The room was good, staff was nice my only complaint is the room is a bit noisy it faces a busy street, so it’s a bit loud to sleep. Other than that it’s a nice hotel

On Wednesday, June 11th, I needed to stay in downtown Alajuela and was looking for a place to stay and spend the night safely, in a clean, comfortable room, and to be able to leave my car in a safe and nearby location.
I found this incredibly wonderful hotel—safe, clean, and with exceptionally professional and humane customer service.
They only had one suite left, and even though I was the only one staying in the room, they were kind enough to reserve it for me. I sincerely thank Mr. José who initially took my call.
Then Alberto's service at the front desk was wonderful, explaining everything that the room included, from parking for my car to the included breakfast, the possibility of using the pool, and the nearby amenities, such as supermarkets, bank branches, and more. In the morning, Jessica's attention maintained the excellent customer service I had already received from the hotel staff.
I also want to mention the room cleaners who also helped me with some aspects of my visit.
I want to thank you for the valuable service I received and recommend this hotel for its excellent quality and service. Thank you so much and much more success.

Hotel close to the airport. We stayed for 1 night because we had an early flight. They offer shuttle service to the airport which was great. We were able to walk to a close by bar to watch the Costa Rica football game. Very safe to walk and restaurants and bars close by. Rooms are clean. Breakfast is very minimal but is enough to fill you up. This is our 2nd time staying there for 1 night. Very convenient.

Very convenient and quick shuttle to the airport, and the room was well worth the price.

Close to everything food etc

We had a late flight in to CR so we found this place for the night so we could pick up our rental the next morning. Its all we needed, a clean comfy bed, ac, and shower. They provided a shuttle from the airport to the hotel.
On our way out, we came back and appreciated the fridge too.

My partner stubbed their toe because the bathroom is 2 inches taller. Small details like this keep it from being a great stay but it was good for the value. Clean and convenient.

Expedia totally misrepresented this hotel. I did not stay there and want a refund.
