The Loans Inn

We were there to catch up with family and we all had a fantastic time, the food was good and the staff were so friendly and helpful 😊

Our stay at The Loans Inn was a mixture of positives and negatives. We booked a deluxe pet-friendly room, but it felt tired and dated. The carpet looked filthy, with numerous heavy stains, the radiator was covered in rust, and there was rust on some of the bathroom fixtures and fittings. The bed linen also had a few stains, which was disappointing. Although the hotel advertises itself as pet friendly, the £30 supplement for a two-night stay, does not permit dogs on the furniture or beds, which is incredibly restrictive for pampered pets. The food was a let-down. We found both lunch and dinner on arrival to be underwhelming. The breakfast buffet also failed to impress, and we chose to eat elsewhere on day two. The greatest asset of The Loans Inn is undoubtedly its staff. Every member of the team we encountered was genuinely warm, friendly and helpful. From the lady who cleaned and prepared our room, to the night watchman who happily let my cocker spaniel, Puddle, and me out for our 4.30 a.m. walk, everyone made us feel incredibly welcome. The waiting staff and receptionists were excellent, and Lorraine deserves a special mention for her exceptional friendliness, helpfulness and local knowledge. The beer garden, which offered both sunny and shaded aspects, was great. Overall, while the staff were outstanding and deserve every compliment, we felt the accommodation did not live up to the standard we expected from a deluxe room or from the many glowing reviews The Loans Inn has received.

Fantastic hotel with wonderful staff. Beer garden was a welcome addition on the hot summer days/nights. Although our room looked onto the main road it was very quiet. Only thing I would change is more disabled parking closer to the main entrance. Overall a fabulous stay.

We stayed 5 nights at the Loans Inn. They created a great home base for our visit from Australia. The staff were always helpful and friendly. The indoor and outdoor areas gave us numerous spots to relax and catch up with our party of friends that were also staying at The Loans Inn.

Went for a family lunch. The service was very good, with just enough wait time for the food to be freshly cooked. The food itself was excellent and enjoyed by everyone, price was reasonable and on a par with other similar establishments I have visited. The staff were very pleasant, friendly and attentive, would definitely highly recommend

As soon as we walked in we were greeted and shown to our table, drink order taken while we looked at menus. Service was very friendly. Food came out quickly and was plentiful and delicious. Would highly recommend

This place surprised us! The room was amazing! HUGE. Clean and a lovely super king bed x The bar staff (a lovely young fella) were very helpful and polite. The meal was OK, just standard pub food. Breakfast was a good array of food. We booked a bit last minute, but the stay was great. Only downside was no air con - so opening the window on to a main road all night was a bit of a pain… WiFi was good, overall a great stay. Not quite as close to Troon as we thought, but OK

We have dined at The Loans many times and always have a fantastic experience.
Went my with friend for a lazy Sunday catch up……friendly staff, great service, delicious food, relaxed atmosphere……absolutely perfect.
We are planning out next visit very soon.

Went out for lunch for my mums 70th, fodd was amazing very well presented. The staff are lovely and attentive. Also the resturant has a nice environment to it too, we will definitely be going back again.

Dinner was absolutely delicious & great value for money. Service was quick & all staff were friendly

Wonderful night spent here with my husband for his birthday. The sun was shining on roof terrace and it was glorious. Hotel room was spotless, bed super comfortable.
Food in the restaurant 10/10. Staff friendly. Everything was perfect.

Nice location. Dog friendly. Pleasant staff.
BUT food very poor quality. A light lunch of one 'chargriiled' ceasar salad, one halloumi salad and a small side of chips. Both were poorly presented and consisted mainly of gem lettuce leaves cover in copious sauces. Not good value at £44.85 including one cider. Maybe other dishes are better but our meals were extremely poor value. We will not be giving our custom to Old Loans Inn in the future.

What a super stay we had in the Loans Inn from the start to finish .beautiful place to stay all the staff went above and beyond for us ..special thanks goes to the night porter Brian couldnt do enough to make us welcome and comfortable . Super friendly man ..I would highly recommend a stay here

Stayed at the loans in with a large group of friends for a golf weekend. I can genuinely say this is one of the friendliest team of staff I have ever come across. It would be unfair to single anyone member of the team because every single member of the teams was outstanding and ensured our stay was an enjoyable one. The owners of this hotel should be very proud of their team!
The team complemented the hotel which was spotless throughout and perfectly located for playing golf on the Ayrshire coast.
We enjoyed our stay there so much that we’re booking again for next year.

We had our diamond wedding celebration àt the last minute as my wife was recovering from a medical procedure.
Amy look after all our needs,and our meals were very satisfying.
Big bonus was the use of our loyalty card.

I returned because last year’s visit was so enjoyable… it didn’t feel like a rushed, utilitarian overnight, more a relaxing ‘take a breath’ time. And so it was this time. I and my well travelled whippet were made so welcome. Everything is spotlessly clean, the room spacious and comfortable with an en suite bath (bonus brownie points, nothing like a long hot soak after a long hot day!

The delightful staff at the Loans really make it special - every single one of them genuinely friendly, helpful, kind. I love the vibe…

One more thing: when I was working part of my job was restaurant and hotel reviewing - too often I grumbled (politely obviously!!) about menus that over-promised and under-delivered. The polar opposite occurred at The Loans: a modest description of Burrata with heirloom tomatoes, dressed with olive oil, sourdough croutons… well, that was inadequate to do justice to the feast I enjoyed. Burrata as wobblesome as a cloud, tomatoes ripe and at a properly ambient temperature, a juicy fruity, oil, crispy croutons…just heavenly!!!

Plus, very dully, it’s really handy for the ferry terminal…! Frankly, I’d happily have driven further for this level,of quality, service, sleep, food ….
