Booked the hotel to visit relatives while attending a first communion in Waterford, we thought the hotel was expensive but thought it was a special event we would use a token we had to pay for the hotel.
We arrived to a very noisey family row at the hotel entrance, fortunately the police arrived but the arguments continued well into the evening.
Staff are very friendly, our room was basic, breakfast was very good, swimming pool was ok but had no security. We were disappointed
Stayed three nights with my aunt who knew the hotel from years gone by.
Positives:
Set in beautiful grounds, within walking distance to New Ross, nicely renovated bar serving good food.
Negatives:
Rooms tired and in need of an update, no suitable lights for reading in the bedroom. The pool area and changing rooms looked tired and in need of redecoration.
On the middle night of our stay, very late at night, there was a group of very noisy men using bad language outside the entrance doors very near the bedroom windows, for a considerable time. In the end, they dispersed after smashing a glass and a car horn was sounded.
Very comfortable and friendly. Breakfasts and evening meals are excellent.
Nice place to stay. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Nice facilities for kids.
Staff were friendly and helpful, food was wonderful. Room was clean and luxurious, breakfast had an amazing selection and the omelette station was devine. And there is a beautiful walk around the hotel and live music in the bar. Overall it was.a.fantastic stay
Awesome breakfast
The friendliness of the staff . The location. The food.
Nothing.
We had a great time in the pool.
All good
All staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient.
I thought the changing facilities at the pool were very tired and could do with upgrading.
Family room was wonderful. A sea themed wall and bunk beds which our son loved. Staff were all so helpful and kind. Playground outside in great condition and our son loved this too!
Staff were very attentive, and friendly.
Food was excellent and our dessert was special as we were celebrating a joint bday, thank you for singing!
Thank you Fran !!!
There's nothing at all I didnt like in this hotel, the staff were so helpful and nice couldn't have done enough for us, the food, the rooms, the treatments the pool, just fab, everything about this place was just fabulous.
There waa nothing not to like.
Arrived at the hotel on a Thursday evening; decided to have a drink at the bar before retiring. Had to locate a barman who was poorly presented and entirely disinterested. Who serves an atrocious pint of Guinness in a Murphys glass? Accompanying glass of wine for my wife turned out to be a miserable half glass; is there a shortage? No receipt offered or given! Decided to give the bar and barman a second chance; had to locate the poorly presented barman once again; still disinterested and no receipt offered or given. Yet another miserable half glass of wine and easily the worst pint of slop I've ever been served. Checking my banking app the following morning I wax shocked to find that each of these disgraceful servings cost me €17.40. Love to hear the Brandon Hose Hotel's explanation/justification etc. Cannot rocommend in any circumstances and only sorry to see I can't upload a photo of the disgraceful effort at serving Guinness.
Nothing, it was perfect.
We chose this hotel for our wedding stay last May, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing—both on the day itself and in how it has been handled since.
I want to stress that I do not usually leave negative reviews. I am generally very easy-going and understanding, particularly when it comes to service. However, the way this was handled—especially given that it was my wedding day—was beyond unacceptable and not something I can overlook.
From the moment we arrived, issues began. We were initially given a standard room instead of the upgraded room we had specifically booked. While this was eventually corrected, it immediately caused unnecessary stress and, in hindsight, should have been a warning sign. We had chosen that room very deliberately for photography purposes, so it was not a small detail to be overlooked.
In advance of our stay, we met with the wedding coordinator and clearly outlined that this was not a traditional wedding, but a small and intimate day. Based on this, we were advised on what the hotel could offer and were assured that certain arrangements would be in place, including use of the outdoor space for a symbolic ceremony and small touches to make the occasion special.
Approximately one week before the wedding, we were informed that the coordinator we had been dealing with had left the business. This had not been communicated to us proactively, and we were only made aware when we got in touch ourselves. At that point, we were reassured that all details had been passed on and that everything would proceed as planned. Based on our experience, it is clear that this handover was not handled properly.
On the day, none of this was organised. The outdoor ceremony had not been arranged as discussed, and I was left, as the bride, trying to organise everything myself with no support from staff. This was incredibly stressful and not what we had agreed to or expected.
To make matters worse, the manager on duty that day was extremely rude and unhelpful at a time when we needed support the most. Instead of assisting, I was met with a dismissive and rude attitude which only added to the pressure.
At one point, just as the ceremony was about to begin, I was approached while in my wedding dress and asked to move our bags to another room—despite this having been discussed in advance and agreed otherwise. This was incredibly upsetting at such a significant moment and completely inappropriate given the circumstances.
There were also other issues during the stay, including problems with the bridal suite and the complete absence of the agreed finishing touches.
What is equally disappointing is how this has been handled since. When I raised these concerns with the hotel, the response I received was dismissive and focused almost entirely on the time that had passed since the stay, rather than addressing what actually happened. I explained clearly that I did not raise the issue immediately due to personal reasons following our wedding and honeymoon, yet this was repeatedly used as a reason not to engage.
I was also told that the hotel could not investigate the matter due to staff turnover. This is not my responsibility and does not change the experience we had or how the day was handled.
Having worked in customer service for many years, I find this level of both service and follow-up extremely disappointing—particularly given the significance of the occasion.
I would have preferred to resolve this directly with the hotel, but unfortunately that was not possible. I’m not posting this to warn others considering having a special occasion here. I would highly recommend you take your business elsewhere.
