The food, both in the evening and at breakfast, was very good and the waitresses very helpful and efficient.
My 'Deluxe single room' made me ask myself what a basic single room looked like, there was little to note regarding the 'deluxe' title. I felt the bathroom, though fine in itself, lacked privacy - the window only had wooden shutters which pulled across, but one was stuck and therefore someone could have seen me in the bathroom from the rear of the property.
The bedroom also had the same wooden shutters and they did not block out the light completely.
I expected a lot of noise on the one evening as England were playing in the World Cup and there was a crowd watching the match in the bar, and that I could accept - but there was also a lot of unnecessary noise on and off throughout the next few hours which meant I had little sleep.
Nice beergarden, friendly staff
First time staying at the Garrett Hotel, having been there for drinks only on a previous visit to Kirkcudbright. Very impressed with the ease of check in, the good standard of the rooms and the genuine welcome that we recieved.
Bed was a little bit firm for my liking, but that didn't spoil anything.
One of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had!
My only slight criticism is the lack of blinds in my bathroom - I would have felt a bit exposed if I’d switched the light on at night, with only a net curtain.
This is my second visit, chosen for its location and comfort. Also serves good food and has a garden and easy parking.
All good- this was carefully chosen to meet our requirements.
Position.
As it is a hotel and we were there on a Saturday night and our room faced the garden, the noise from the locals partying in the back garden was hard to bear.
I think we simply chose the wrong hotel for us.
Breakfasts were really good. Choice
of cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit to start then a full Scottish or porridge or scrambled or poached eggs on toast to follow if desired.
Restaurant was good. We had the Sunday roast on arrival which was plentiful. Several locals were dining here too which is always a good sign. Nice bar showing world cup & tennis. Staff were all lovely. Would stay here again.
...
Breakfast very good with vegetarian options. Location excellent.
Blinds are needed in the bedroom both for privacy and to shut out the light, especially at this time of year. Lace curtains wont do. There is also a dreadful noise from the room next door from a motor( boiler or something similar) which woke me up and was constant. The wall needs to be soundproofed.
The staff were very welcoming from the moment I arrived, helpful too. The ambience in the bar was much friendlier than many places the evening meal was good value and breakfast was not only tasty but abundant. - and served with friendly attention. You even had in Bellhaven a very good beer - an old favourite.
I enjoyed my stay - will hopefully return and pass the good word.
Great location and easy on street parking. Good size room bright comfortable and very clean. A lovely Scottish breakfast in a bright dinning room with fresh fruit, yogurts, cereal and juice. Nice pub, we joined in the pub quiz. All staff were chatty polite and worked hard.
Shower was a little small. Limited hanging space for clothes
Lovely quiet location in this quaint town.
We had been delayed on our ferry journey and rang ahead to advise the hotel, but we were advised last orders for the kitchen was 7.45pm. We ordered our meals over the phone and had a fast journey to Kirkcudbright! We were surprised there was no "leeway" for residents. (Food was very nice though!).
Twin room had a very small ensuite.
Excellent breakfast and very fulsome dinner
Pub ambiance.
The location right in the centre of town is ideal. The room was clean and comfortable, and the food at both dinner and breakfast were excellent. More than anything else though was the friendliness of the staff. I can't remember being made so welcome in a hotel for a very long time.
Nothing - it was all good!
The options for breakfast was excellent.
Although the timings for breakfast did not suit my needs.
Accommodation was excellent.
Breakfast good on hot plates.
Staff friendly
Attehded during June heatwave. Room at top of hotel was hot.
Liebevoll eingerichtete Zimmer, persönlicher Service beim reichlichen Frühstück, urige Pub-Atmosphäre am Abend!
