Located close to where I had to attend work.
The information said it was recently refurbished, but it was very tired and grubby looking
Nothing apart from location, this property is disgusting the place is really dirty, holes everywhere, paint splashed everywhere the carpet has been played over carpet for quickness and the hoover has never seen this carpet it’s filthy. Also please research this hotel has been hiding that it has bed bugs and all sorts have bites on my arms also, couldn’t wait to leave which we did and no refund or compensation, also it’s cost to park your car in there car park awful just awful. I’m not surprised by the lack of hygiene shower was hanging off the wall and it was bloody roasting as well, had a fan that didn’t work on ground level and windows had no safety catches on them people walking about all over the place like they stayed here long term it was not clean at all. Service was crap no warm welcome etc nothing. Did get asked if guy next door talks to much to call reception so he’s there long term then. Honestly NEVER WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL

Barely slept - room doors noisy, road noise coming through the windows and plastic pillows.
On the plus side, bed sheets and towels clean.
Back to reality, room not ready, next room by the road, blocked shower, dusty round kettle, dirty windows and just generally knackered, which was poorly hidden with lashings of white paint.
Paid £235 for one night that should have cost tops £35. Wore shoes in the room which was a first for me.
Breakfast was cooked upon arrival. Staff gave us fresh pillowcases when we asked.
Uncomfortable short beds. No pillowcases on spare pillows. Duvets were too short. I am not even that tall. No amenities in bathroom. Felt very dirty. No working main lamp.
Juice at breakfast tasted off.
1/10. Felt shabby. Would not recommend.

Good bus service for Newcastle and Gateshead which is also walking distance for food shops etc
There is a fridge and microwave in reception area which is good and chocolate drink machine

TV had cracks on it, bedding gave was for a single bed instead of a double, shower was upside down, ambulances were at the hotel throughout the stay, people peeing on the side of the hotel, could hear every noise through the thin walls, carpets were stained as was the bedding, and the rooms were damaged
Easy location to get onto main road in and out of Newcastle by road. 15 min drive to Central Newcastle. Not for a guest without car. No facilities near by. Staff were OK. No friendly hello or acknowledgement, they were not rude though.
Cleansiness: hairs in shower, food and other things found under beds!! ... No shower gel on arrival had to ask for it to be filled. Dirty spoon in room fir the tea/ coffee making. Shower not easy to use - either too hot or too cold. Tabletops - not cleaned properly, found dirt and hair in corners, in particular dusty tabletop that tea/coffee tray was on. And last but not least Bed Bugs....dropped on bed during and the final morning, actually woke up with one in bed with me... 3 we found not sure how many more we didn't see, think they came from floor above as they just appeared.
The smell from one or two of the floors was awful, smelt like bad mould every time went past to get bwteen reception and bedroom. . Would not re commend this hotel for anyone with breathing issues unless they get it fixed . Popped my head into one of the shared shower toilets, smelt awful.
TV - would lose signal every now and again while watching a program.
No lounge area
It's only because I knew we would probably not get our money back and knew it was oy a very short stay, otherwise would have left.
I stayed at another hotel with similar budget before this one in another area, what a difference - it was spotlessly clean and near shops, staff were friendly,. Unfortunately they couldn't do our whole stay.
Sorry but wouldn't stay at Hotel Express again.
Nothing stood out
Lots of creaking floor boards, and sound proofing barely existed. To noisy for me to get a good night's sleep. Breakfast barely average.
