It was real nice , the lay out was really cool . The rooms were huge and the place was really laid out in a cool way

What a GEM! 2 blocks from the beach and all the best restaurants in SantaMonica.
Rooms large, complete kitchen, original tile in great condition., dining area, pool, very clean. The only suggestion for future upgrades would be to remove carpets.
We hope to stay here again..

The location is the only thing this hotel has going for it. Being walking distance from the beach and the pier is great, but do not let that distract you from what you are actually paying for.

No Air Conditioning. This was not clearly disclosed when booking. We were told the ocean breeze and ceiling fans would be sufficient. They were not. We sweated through the night and my baby could not sleep comfortably. In June this is not acceptable, especially at these prices.

Parking is NOT free. Their website implies complimentary parking but we were charged. That is false advertising and needs to be corrected or disclosed upfront.

Noise. Because there is no AC you are forced to keep your windows open all night. We are right next to the street and the weekend noise was nonstop - people fighting, partying, and being loud well into the night. My baby could not sleep. There is no way to escape it without AC to close the windows.

The kitchen sink smelled of mildew. Not what you expect when you are paying for a suite with a kitchen.

The staff was not upfront about any of these issues. I will be requesting a partial refund. Travelers with young children or anyone visiting in warm weather should look elsewhere.

A hotel that has long since seen better days. Thankfully the apartment was clean and spacious but it seemed as if it belonged in the 1950-1960 era. Everything was original and in need of replacement. Thin walls which allowed me to hear the snoring of someone from an adjacent room. Old floors in desperate need of replacement. Cracked bathroom tile, windows that could not absorb the sound from the street and the worst was the saggy mattress.

If you can afford a newer place or are not bothered by the above conditions, go here. I can’t recommend Cal-mar in its current state.

Room is spacious and location is excellent

This hotel is about a 12 minute walk from the beach and very close to some amazing restaurants and shopping. The staff was super kind, the parking was great, and overall we had a wonderful time staying here.

What a fantastic hidden gem so close to Santa Monica North Beach, the pier, and 3rd St Promenade! This apartment complex converted into a hotel was the perfect spot for our family's overnight stay in Santa Monica. The front desk staff were a delight, the pool is an absolute oasis. The only thing was the super bright hallway light right outside of the bedroom window. It kept the room feeling like daytime all through the night, even with the blinds closed.
We would still stay here again though... Location, location, location... Plus awesome staff.

Really cool vibe two minutes from Ocean Street. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. At this price point, this might be the best value as far as the room itself. Having the space of an apartment after a full day is a luxury. The bed was comfortable, and the towels might be the softest I have ever used. Also reminded me of my grandparents' house, also in southern California, with the colors, crank windows, and bathroom heater. Stayed here for a conference at the Fairmont because the Fairmont was booked. Next time will stay here even if the Fairmont is available.

nice location near Ocean blvd, about 3 blocks from beach, walking distance to restaurants also to the pier. This is an apt. hotel with a full kitchen. Tv in bedroom and living room. Small pool. Santa Monica is expensive but this hotel is cheaper than most in the area.
