L’emplacement, la beauté du bâtiment et des chambres
L’accueil un peu froid.
Wir waren rund um zufrieden und kommen wieder
With the exception of Pedro, who was helpful, and professional, this hotel was a huge disappointment and felt like false advertising.
Most of the rooms face the inside of an unattractive building, with very little natural light. We were eventually moved to a “river view” room, but even that was far from ideal. The windows have to remain closed because there is a restaurant immediately next door, with tables positioned directly in front of the windows. If you want to enjoy the river view, you also have to look at people eating and walking by—and they can see straight into your room as well. There is essentially no privacy.
The breakfast staff was by far the least welcoming hotel staff I have ever encountered. They always seemed annoyed, as if serving guests was a burden. One morning, an employee holding a list with guests’ names and room numbers refused to let us enter the breakfast area because we couldn’t remember our room number. She could easily have checked our names on the list she was already holding, but only did so after we insisted, and very reluctantly.
The breakfast itself is mediocre, repetitive, and below expectations for a hotel in this price range. The à la carte eggs we ordered every morning were bland and tasteless. Even worse, no one comes to the tables to let guests know that hot dishes can be ordered. You have to get up, find a staff member, and request them yourself.
The hotel also fails in many small but important details. For example, there isn’t a single shelf or holder inside the shower to place shampoo or soap. Everything has to stay on the floor, which is inconvenient and especially problematic for elderly guests.
Speaking of accessibility, be aware that cars cannot reach the hotel entrance. If you are traveling with rolling suitcases or have mobility issues, this is a significant inconvenience. What is even more frustrating is that the hotel never contacts guests in advance to explain the best Uber drop-off location. A simple message would avoid a great deal of confusion. For future guests: enter “Painel de Azulejos Ribeira Negra” in Uber, as this drop-off point makes it much easier to reach the hotel with luggage. This is basic information that should be provided by the hotel.
Finally, although the hotel is located by the Ribeira, every trip to and from the property involves steep uphill walks. In my opinion, it is much better to stay somewhere more central and simply come to the Ribeira for lunch or dinner. You will enjoy the same beautiful riverside atmosphere without all the inconveniences of staying here.
Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel. The location alone does not make up for the poor service, lack of privacy, disappointing breakfast, and numerous practical shortcomings.
Emplacement idéal avec vue incroyable sur la rivière.
Chambres confortables et de très bon goût. Bon petit-déjeuner
Rien, tout était parfait
We had a wonderful stay and would happily return.
The location is excellent—right in the heart of the city, within easy walking distance of the historic center, the river, restaurants, and shops. Having a taxi rank nearby also made getting around very convenient.
The hotel itself has a lot of character. The high ceilings, large windows, and tasteful minimalist design create a calm, welcoming atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable, thoughtfully equipped, and the beds are exceptionally comfortable. A special mention goes to the shower: finally, a hotel shower that’s intuitive to use! Simple controls, great water pressure, and no need to spend five minutes figuring out how it works.
Breakfast exceeded our expectations. At first glance it looks like a modest selection, but that’s only because everything is presented so neatly. The staff continuously replenish the buffet, so everything stays fresh and plentiful. The fresh orange juice was excellent, and the overall breakfast experience felt carefully prepared with great attention to detail.
A stylish, comfortable hotel in a perfect location with excellent service. Highly recommended.
One of the best locations in the city with direct views of the river.
River front can get busy at night, especially at the weekend but apartment has good sound proofing.
It was spacious and clean with lots of little extras that were given for free. A really lovely gesture
It was very noisy outside but I suppose that’s what happens when you live in the city centre so we have to take the good with the “bad” no reflection on the hotel
I stayed at Porto River in the studio apartment as a solo traveler. It was the 3rd apartment I had stayed at on my trip and was by far the nicest. The room itself was wonderful, being able to open the windows was amazing. You're right on the river in the busiest area of the ribiera so you're serenaded by musicians until late (which can be a benefit or downfall depending on how you like to travel). Some restaurants in the area were great but was more impressed by others closer to the city center and you do pay a riverfront premium for ribiera restaurants. Close to Luis I bridge to walk over to the Gaia side to watch the sunset over Lisbon. Breakfast is included and it's absolutely delicious.
Ligging, personeel
In het hoofdgebouw zeer gehorig
Large sized room - in fact, we had two rooms. A sitting area/living room and a separate bedroom. Great bathroom and shower. Also had a nice breakfast each morning.
Our only complaint was the noise. If you want to be right in the middle of the action - and on the water (which was nice) - you have to put up with a lot of street noise.
Great location.
It was difficult to find the first time.
Amazing views. I would recommend this hotel as it's in a superb location with unbeatable views. It is also very clean and the rooms are extremely comfortable - we had a double room with a small Juliette style balcony. It has a nice bar area with a terrace right on the Riverside
Amazing view! We got a free upgrade to a room with a view if the river and it was truly beautiful. I would highly recommend booking a room with a view! Rooms were also very clean.
Nothing!
Great historic location that has been beautifully and thoughtfully renovated. Nice staff and delicious breakfast.
Long wait for service in Terrace restaurant.
We loved the location and views. We had a room overlooking the river .The breakfasts were superb and the staff extremely helpful and friendly.
We arrived in the evening snd our taxi couldn’t take us down the hotel reception.
