Well where do I start this is the best hotel and holiday we have ever had in Europe. The hotel was so central but away from the crowds- food my goodness was amazing and so well presented. We stayed B&B but had really amazing coffee, service and a choice of buffet or made to order- I love an omelette and these have been the best.
All the team are amazing and so friendly and helpful.
All in all one of our best experiences-
The island is gorgeous and so much to see-
Will be back.

Perfectly located near the centre of town but just far enough away from the hustle and bustle so it is not noisy through the windows this is a wonderful hotel with small-hotel charm and large hotel facilities. All the staff were exceptionally helpful and polite. The restaurant food is excellent. Good buffet and cooked-to-order breakfast. A relaxed welcoming bar, plus rooftop bar. For us it was a great base in the town to get out and about and to go out for evening meals.
The location is very central though in a quiet area. The property is a boutique hotel, with internal courtyards, nice layout.
I did not like the service so much. Not very friendly in the morning breakfast and while I booked 6 nights at the last minute, I don’t think the management team made a real effort to accommodate a really nice room, at €260.— per night, you’d expect a bit more frankly speaking. While I was impressed the 1st night, I was pretty much disappointed the last 6. 7 nights and almost €2k, you’d really expect more service.
Such a perfect time at Castanheiro hotel. Near to all major sites yet just far away from noise of main town area.
Room was very clean and spacious.

Breakfast buffet had an enormous amount to choose from with extra special omelettes or scrambled eggs at no extra cost.
Although it wasn’t cheap, we could not fault it in any way.

Really didn’t like the idea we did have an iron. We would have packed differently. There were laundry facilities but not right away and expensive when all you wanted to do was press a simple shirt

This place is incredible!!! We loved everything - the location, the welcome champagne, the rooftop pool and hot tub that stayed open until midnight where you could enjoy the backdrop of the night city, the history of the hotel, the large yet cozy room and of course the most delicious breakfast! One of our best stays during our 2 week trip
