The location and resturant
We booked for 3 nights but only stayed 2. The room was far too hot and stifling at night. The weather wasn't that hot, it was just there was no ventilation. The fan provided didn't help.
We paid for our dog to stay, the room should never be made available for dogs, they must know there's an issue with heat at night.
When we complained we were told it's a listed building so there's nothing they can do. I really question this as it's a '70's build with no insulation.
We would definitely noit recommend this hotel.
Everything
Good breakfast and lovely outdoor terrace
The stairs to the rooms have little depth and no lift
Position. It is in a lovely spot on the Broads. The staff were very friendly and the hotel is very dog friendly. Our room had dog bed and doggie goodies
Unfortunately our room was not what we were expecting. While the bed was comfortable and extras like quality coffee, tea etc .The room was quite compact, the bathroom tiny, the shower was so neat I could barely turn around. This night away was a surprise birthday treat from my husband and wasn' t up to our expectations.
STAFF VERY PLEASANT /BREAKFAST WAS VERY GOOD /BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE /CONVENIENT FOR TOWN/RAIL
1)THE PROPERTY IS FELT FLAT ROOFED -AND OFFERS ZERO INSULATION FROM ANY TEMPERATURE EXTREMES -MY ROOM WAS VERY HOT THERE WAS NO AIR CONDITIONING -ONLY A FAN I HAD TO KEEP MY DOOR OPEN TO GET ANY VENTILATION --SEVERAL GUESTS I OVERHEARD -SAME EXPERIENCE --ONE SLEPT IN HIS CAR --ANOTHER LADY SAT NEXT TO THE FIRE EXIT OPEN DOOR -FOR THE PRICE -£197 /NIGHT ID EXPECT BETTER
2)THE FIRE ESCAPES NEED TO BE LOOKED AT BOTH HAD HIGH STEPS DOWN SO ANY FRAIL OCCUPANT MAY STUMBLE IN THE PANIC TO EGRESS
3)SEVERAL OBSTRUCTIONS --A LONGER AND CHAIRS BLOCKED EXIT ON THE OUTSIDE
4)NO HANDRAIL ON EITHER EXIT STAIRS
5)EXPOSED ELECTRICAL JUNCTION BOX ON A LIGHT ALONG THE ROOF EXIT
6)SLIPPERY FIRE EXIT ROOF SURFACE
7)MY ROOM HAD A SMALL BATH WITH SMALL SCREEN -IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEP INTO THE BATH TO GET A SHOWER -A CERATIN SLIP HAZARD -IF THE SCREEN WAS NOT CAREFULLY POSITIONED SHOWER WATER WOULD GO ON THE BATHROOM FLOOR -A SLIP HAZARD --I BELIEVE THERE ARE OTHER ROOMS WITH SHOWER TRAYS ONLY
8)A FEW -''UNEVEN STEPS '' SIGNS -and the GUAGES -ie the HEIGHT OF THE STEPS ISNT BULDING REG STANDARD ESPECIALLY ON THE FIRE EXITS
Room was very clean and serviced every morning. Breakfast (included) very good and restaurant good but a bit pricey. The decor in the main entrance, dining room and patio all very good with plenty of seating areas. Lots of boats mooring and holiday makers coming in for drinks and meals which gave the bar area a good atmosphere
The staff, although effecient and pleasant had no personality. No chat or pleasanturies. Very sombre apart from the Spanish waiter and a young chap waiting on tables. The receptionist could not even be bothered to stand or address me when she was giving me my final bill and was quite brusque. Not acceptable.
The bar area in the evening the locals would come in for drinks and the language was terrible. My husband and I were sat around the corner having a last drink and the 'f....' word was very audible and literally every other word!! Not what I would expect from this kind of establishment.
Lovely stay friendly staff excellent food
Excellent staff and great food. Location brilliant.
Upstairs and rooms hot and stuffy
Lovely location, great food and very friendly staff.
Lovely people excellent food room was nice view was excellent
Paid top money for best room no fridge so if you’re taking medication would be a problem and no air conditioning
The restaurant and bar area was very nice and being next to the water had a nice ambiance to it
The restaurant service was slow but having to send my steak back twice because it was medium to well done and then rare when I asked for medium rare was poor for a hotel that charges the prices they do
The pub/bar area was nice, and cosy to relax with board games and TV for the football etc.
Very overpriced in general. Outdated facilities.
For the price, I really don't recommend staying here.
Most importantly, AIR CONDITIONING has to be installed here for summer stays. Until they have AC installed, please avoid if you can.
Our room was a non water view room and it had no ventilation whatsoever. The room trapped heat and no matter what we did to get rid of it, with the window fully open, fan on top of the chair and luggage and wet towels draped everywhere for cooling; it was still over 30 degrees in the room at all times, even when it was 20 degrees over night. When I asked for another fan, I was told there isn't one and that was the end of it.
The breakfast was fine and the service was great, but the plates and cups were dirty often.
A pint was more expensive than London, this one still baffles me.
The bathroom was probably less than one square metre, I barely fit in there so if you're over 6 foot, bear that in mind.
Breakfast were very good a nice selection and cooked well. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Bed were really comfortable, shower gel, shampoo etc were high end and beautiful. Bottled water provided each day as well as various tea, coffee and biscuits.
The room was exceptionally hot, a fan is provided but with the excessive temperatures of the last couple of days it was difficult to sleep. In fairness to the hotel it was made clear there was no air conditioning when booking…… that was my only slight downside.
