Wonderful building, unfortunately run.
Pros:

Wonderful building (I didn’t realise its historic significance until I arrived) but unfortunately poorly run.

Cons:

Unhelpful staff (check in and at breakfast).
Average breakfast.
Smelly bathroom!

In wonderfully historic part of the city which has been left to get derelict sadly!

Cons:

When made booking was told on phone could pay cash when got there and when arrived got told was cashless venue and had to be paid by card after taking cash with me not happy probably wont be staying there again and wont recomend to anyone

Lovely stay in Colchester.
Pros:

Convenient location for a night out. Beautiful building. Lovely big rooms. Comfy bed. Great facilities. Lovely staff and a tasty breakfast. Also, near the climbing centre!

Cons:

It’s to be expected, but the creaky floors can be a bit annoying if someone is up and about in an adjacent room at night.

Pros:

It was clean and comfortable

Cons:

The heating in our room would not come on we had gotten soaked in the room and my only pair of trainers were wet through. I asked at reception 3 times and was told that they had remotely turn heater on. This was not the case. I then called the reception 10 times for it to go to answerphone. It’s supposed to be a 24 hour reception but this certainly was not the case. The whole incident cut short our visit so was very disappointed. We had a beautiful meal in the restaurant and a lovely lady served us very polite and helpful however we ordered cinnamon rice pudding as this sounded a nice treat to end the meal. We were very disappointed to find cold rice pudding that tasted like a tinned on from a supermarket with a bit of cinnamon sprinkled on top costing around £7 these couple of things made my experience quite unpleasant.

La qualité et le sens du service des 2 dames à la réception (dont une étudiante). 9/10 !!

Cons:

beaucoup de poussières entre la tête de lit et le matelas. Chambre assez sombre, avec un éclairage mural de faible intensité. Surtout fenêtres pas du tout isolés contre le bruit, malgré la mise en place d'un double vitrage coulissant mais qui n'est plus efficace. On entendait les motos durant la nuit, et à 5.00 AM des déchargements de trolleys d'un camion qui livrait des articles, objets pour l'hôtel, or notre fenêtre était juste au 1er étage, au dessus du va et vient des livreurs.
Et on entend très bien les clients de l'hôtel dans le hall attenant à la chambre et dans la chambre contigüe à la nôtre.
Plafond très bas au niveau de la chambre, et de la salle de bain, on se cognait la tête dans la baignoire.
La chambre 201 est à éviter !!

An Amazing Experience, At A Special Hotel!
Pros:

Everything was well-maintained, clean and comfortable! Amazing value for money, a building with great character and the Staff were lovely too! Its Location is also very convenient!

Cons:

There was nothing that I disliked about my Stay at this Hotel!
