Great central location
The bar opposite was very noisy late into the night
Handy for train travel and attractions.
Location good, staff helpful and welcoming
The restaurant heat was too much, no aircon
Always a great stay
No air con
Very little!
I booked the room months before requesting an accessible room for my 90 year old parents who have mobility issues. I spoke to a fabulous man the week before to confirm their room would be close to a lift & a walk in shower explaining Dad could not get into a bath.
He was very kind and assured me this was possible and I’d annotated it on the special requests.
We arrived and the man on the desk was unwelcoming, rude and unhelpful. On finding the room with a shower over the bath we spoke to the man on the desk and explained we’d specifically requested a room with a walk in shower but he said he didn’t have an alternative.
This tired, run down hotel needs to provide some staff training to support both their customers and their staff.
Luckily it didn’t ruin my Father’s 90th celebrations but we will never visit again due to rude, uninterested or caring staff.
The greeting, the kindness and respect shown
Nothing
Central location perfect
Noise late night from the street outside
Wanted our small wedding reception here, registry office all booked and wedding breakfast arranged but found out no room’s available to book on the same night. Extremely poor communication and feel we were fooled into booking something they clearly could not fulfill completely
Amazing day for our wedding day. I highly recommend the george hotel. They went above and beyond to make our day as special as it was.
Right in the part of Lichfield where most of the bars and restaurants are situated. The hotel was a lovely venue for all sixteen of us to stay at and such friendly and welcoming staff. The rooms were adequately stocked and extremely clean all were air conditioned. The food was second to none and must mention the mashed potatoes with the fresh herbs infused.
Lovely welcome and accommodating
The location in the town
Nothing all was good
Location.
Very hot. Air con not working and very noisy all night on street outside so opening windows was impossible without disturbance. Only fans supplied for cooling which was unacceptable. I'll try the Premier Inn next time.
Very nice hotel in a good location handy for all the city amenities.
The room was comfortable, but the air con was broken so in a heatwave, the room was unbearably hot. The staff explained that it needed regassing but it wasn't working last year either, so likely to be an excuse for the fact it was switched off as it was too expensive to run.
The radiator in the room was also hot and couldn't be turned off until we complained and a hearing engineer arrived. All the hotel could offer to cool the room was a couple of fans that were ineffective.
The room was on the second floor with no lift and if the window was left open overnight to try to cool the room, the noise outside from the neighbouring bar was also unbearable and went on until 3am.. To cap it all, the street sweeper came past at 5am. And woke us up again.
The staff tried to help but the problems were not really able to be solved. All they could offer was sympathy and an explanation that it was a heatwave and by implication, out of their control.
The Premier Inn is just down down the road and looks far more inviting.
All went well.
Breakfast - good choice and helpful staff.
Very comfortable room
