Heating poor, food only average at best, some staff uncaring and disinterested

We were disappointed by our standard room, it was much smaller than it appeared on the hotel website pictures, the decoration was plain and really not as described. We were in room 117 which may have been smaller than some others due to a bit of strange geometry. You could not sit in the chair without banging your head on the the kettle which was on a tiny shelf. Generally this disappointment carried over to the whole visit. The hotel is quite faded compared with the pictures on the website which gives a much more upmarket impression. at least 40 out of 60 rooms are in an annexe quite a long walk from the main hotel partly outside, I cannot see how most of them have any kind of view other than of the leisure centre and the heating plant! the annexe is not a great building to be in the walls are very thin you can hear the light switches in the next room. The wardrobe was very musty and we did not use it. Breakfast was average to poor (but the dining room is nice), the worst coffee I have had in a long time and on the first morning lukewarm water for tea. Hot buffet food was very dried out by 08:30 and a poor selection of continental goods. On the first day I ordered poached egg and poached haddock from the kitchen, nice eggs but the smallest and most dried out piece of haddock you could imagine. On the second day a 15 min wait for a poached egg as the kitchen was prepping for an event, more important to do this than serve paying, waiting guests. I have an EV and needed to charge it; I picked the hotel as it has EV charging, The welcome sheet said it did not (it has)! Finally the swimming pool was closed (to be fair I did not plan to use it) but this was not mentioned on the booking.com site and only messaged to me by the hotel after paying for the visit in full (non refundable), this is of course the fault of booking .com. Generally the place is OK, clean and usable but really does not match it's advertising. E left thinking it was distinctly average.

My room was the other side of the building to the reception desk. I tried calling them from from room and they never answered which is quite poor.

Staff were rude, long black hair on the tiling of bathroom, pool was closed (no mention on booking.com when booking, mosquitos in room, bed uncomfortable, loud banging noises outside till 11pm, stain on towel.

The hotel is tired and in need of a good revamp. The breakfast is ok but I have had a lot nicer for the price.

Unfortunately the swimming pool was not open during our stay but I was aware of this when I booked.

Comfortable bedroom, Warm heating on🫠 disappointed tea/ coffee cups sooo small also No support wall handrail on bath/shower wall. Highly dangerous 😳. Also glass shower screen soo wide, difficult to turn on & off bath water. Shower far to high.

1. Paid for a superior room, found out after the fact it was a regular room
2. No hot water at 7am?
3. Room next to stairs, banging up and down all night.
4. Bed was awful
5. TV was basic

Avoid!!! We had an absolutely awful stay here. We were given zero notice that the pool was closed until just 48 hours before our trip. The entire reason we booked this specific property was so my daughter could relax after an exhausting 11-hour journey from the Isle of Man.
The room itself was filthy and filled with a terrible, damp smell. This likely came from the shower area, which had gaping holes in the grout where water is clearly getting trapped and going stagnant. To make matters worse, the windows had been left wide open before our arrival. The room was swarming with a horrible amount of mosquito-like flies. I had to spend my evening hunting and killing as many as I could just so my daughter could go to sleep without being terrified of being eaten alive.
The bar and restaurant were equally disappointing. The bar had no Guinness or IPA available—only lager. The food was exceptionally poor quality. The "pilau rice" was literally just plain boiled rice with peas thrown in, and it tasted disgusting. The spaghetti bolognese was mediocre at best. Because my daughter barely touched her curry for obvious reasons, she wanted a pudding and chose the brownie. It was undeniably microwaved; the outside was lukewarm while the inside was dangerously hot—practically hotter than the sun.
Save your money and book somewhere else. This place was a massive disappointment from start to finish

Stayed in an executive room. Much smaller than an earlier stay at this hotel. Room good, but memories of larger one taints comments.
