an ok place to stay
Pros:

location was good, pity no breakfast available

Cons:

Room was very hot and stuffy - our stay was during heatwave but a fan or window that opened would have been good

Disappointing end to a nice stay.
Pros:

The staff were nice and the room was clean and spacious

Cons:

The room was very hot. It would have been nice if they could have opened the window before arrival to let the hot air out.
We also got locked out as the key fob did not work and we could not get in contact with the owners. Thankfully another resident came by after an hour and let us in. Very disappointed that the fob was not checked before it was given to us.

Massive room - nearly £250 !!!!!! Too brown and basic unfortunately.
Pros:

Beautiful old building and enormous room but NO river view as promised.

Cons:

Overall so basic and dated. Bed really lumpy and uncomfortable. No dressing table chair - had to drag an enormous heavy one. What a shame with such an opportunity of a fantastic building.

Room layout, so much space but small double which was well worn so soft the tv mounted alongside the headboard impossible to watch whilst in bed?, so hot and windows have been screwed down so cannot hardly open ? Key Dobson enter building don’t work and no staff around until 10am

Not awful but probably wouldn’t come back

Cons:

The check in was stressful. Lady on reception said she didn’t have our booking, I spent 15 mins on the phone to booking.com who couldn’t get hold of the property even though I was stood there in reception. Eventually booking.com cancelled my booking and told me to book in direct with the lady at reception. Only for her to check the booking again and turns out she had our bookings after all. She just didn’t click on them. Very stressful after a long car journey and totally avoidable.

Was told breakfast at 9am but no one to be seen and doors all locked.

Would rather have stayed at a bed and breakfast place.

No lift to carry cases up to the top floor. No chef so no food at all. Smoking in the reception by staff.

Cons:

room 2 was above the bar thursday evening was very noisy friday evening the noise from the blues brothers who were performing below was so noisy it was totaly unaceptable and we could not even hold a conversation it totally ruind our stay in UPTON ON SEVEN' the television didnt work i spoke to somebody on thursday evening and still had to speak to somebody on friday because it still hadnt been repaired

A bit of a disaster all round.
Pros:

Cons:

No breakfast, no remote controller for tv, Wi-Fi password didn’t work, no evening meal, electricity blew first thing in morning so dark bathroom and no ability to make a cuppa.

I very much enjoyed my stay at The Star as I did on my two previous visits.
Pros:

Breakfast was good. The service was friendly and prompt. The room was clean and very comfortable as was the bed.

Cons:

The internet link was poor I’m afraid. I could only get online on one night via a link through my iPhone. This was not a major spoiler as my reason for being in Upton was the Folk Festival and so I didn’t have an urgent need to be online but it was a nuisance.
