It is what you make it
Pros:

Just returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel!
Family of 4 two children (6&11)

The rooms are very small for a family of 4 and we spent 2 weeks on top of each other.
AC was good in block 1. Kept us comfortable throughout the night. We wasn’t too bother about the rooms being dated as we only use it to shower and sleep. The rooms are cleaned daily and fresh towels and a bottle of water.

The main pool is where all the entertainment takes place. It is loud and very over crowded. We chose not to use that pool during our stay.
We really liked the pool near to the water park only down side was not having the all inclusive option there, but there is a little bar that sells cans of pop. No alcohol is allowed at this pool. Glasses and bottles are served at all times around the pool so be careful as lots get smashed. The Mango pool is lovely ☺️

The restaurant is complete chaos!!!
Breakfast is not too busy and offer fresh omelettes, pancakes etc. just watch out for the birds as they quite like a croissant!
lunch - restaurant is chaos people everywhere getting food and struggle to get a table inside. Snack bar is great and the pizzas are delicious only down side is they cook one at a time so the wait can be a while for your 2slices.
Dinner - well….. if you want a table dressing with a table cloth, glasses and cutlery then get there for 19.30 any time after that you will have to clear your own table route around for cutlery. Food is good always managed to find something tasty to eat.
Staff work so hard in the restaurant it just seems they don’t have enough staff for the turn over of tables and the amount of guests in the hotel.

Bar - be prepared to queue!! The staff are working extremely hard but again just doesn’t seem to be enough staff and the bar area is not big enough. During our stay they ran out of beer so had to wait for a delivery. It was an effort to get a drink which was a shame in the 46degree heat we needed drinks. Rule is only 2 drinks at a time which doesn’t work to well with as family of 4 but some staff did accommodate this.

Entertainment we didn’t get involved or spend time at that pool during the day. In the evening we went to the kiddy disco which was ok. Evening entertainment is all French they don’t make any effort to translate into English which was a shame.

Kids club was great my youngest spent a lot of time there and loved Hauoda.

The hotel has an infirmary/medical room I want to mention this as the male nurse is amazing (I can’t remember his name) I am forever grateful for his kindness and help. our little girl got very poorly during our stay and needed medical attention. He came to our room to see her he helped keep the situation calm, he contacted the doctor who came to the hotel to see her. The doctor gave her treatment which helped us to get her home safely. Please say a huge thank you to him. After some time in hospital back in the UK she now getting better. 😁

This hotel is a 3* for a reason.
Yes it has good and bad points but a holiday is what you make it and what you pay for!!
We had a great time as a family. We went out and about and experienced so much in Marrakesh. The people are kind and helpful.

Piece of advice don’t book trips through the hotel they’re very expensive. We used ‘get your guild’. Also take a Stanley cup the bar will fill it with pop, beer, wine what ever you want. This helps stop wasps and flies.

I wouldn’t return to this hotel just because of the queues, restaurants being chaos and not a relaxing environment to eat a meal.

Overall a great hotel but bar service needs real improvement
Pros:

Just back from a 1 week stay at valeria Medina. Overall a good stay and. Good hotel. Must admit we where a little dubious after reading the reviews and the supposed anti English rhetoric however pleased to say we never experienced this/felt it. Yes I do feel that ghe hotel is geared more towards French guests a lot of the entertainment being in French as a result our kids ( 5 & 3 years) weren't keen to join in the entertainment but I wouldn't class this as anti English we felt all the staff we encountered to ve very nice hospitable and they where great with the kids.

Food we thought was great wide selection and very tasty. Rooms are dated and in need of an upgrade however perfectly adequate to sleep in and secure which is all we wanted as did not spend much time in room.

Great selection of pools particularly enjoyed the shallow kids pool which was perfect to allow us to relax a little whilst still be able to keep watch on the kids. Waterpark great as well and included in price.

Only down side to the holiday for us was the bar service. This in honesty was awful. Max of 2 drinks per person which oddly seemed to include soft drinks. So could not get all 4 of us a drink at one time so meant getting kids drinks then re queueing to get ours. Which would of been fine if there was more that 1 person serving on the bar. Queues where very long with only 1 person serving but lots of other staff just hanging about not helping. Also they did run out of beer on one day however did mange to get hold of bottles of san Miguel to give out eventually which was great. That was the only down side to an otherwise fantastic stay.

SPECIAL MENTION
We stayed in block 9. Just wanted to give a special mention to our maid Nabila who was absolutely lovely really friendly always greeted us with a smile and kind words asking us about our stay. She was great with the children too. A real credit to Valeria Medina!

Amazing family holiday 🩵
Pros:

We have just had 10 nights at this resort. I genuinely do think that some of the posts on here are jumping on the compensation bandwagon. Im not saying everyone that stays has an amazing time but after reading the reviews on this group we were honestly dreading what we were walking into. And we've had one of the best holidays!!
There has been a few hiccups dont get me wrong but you get that anywhere you go.

When we first arrived the staff had us drop our suitcases and we were taken straight for lunch (about 1pm). First con, our room wasn't ready until 3 so we did have an hour to kill after lunch to get into our room but we could have stayed in the dining bit where they had air con, drinks and food. So it wasn't all bad.

Food, food was brilliant. Im not even sure why people are moaning. Always lots of variety, vegetarian options, always different meats being cut fresh by chefs, always pasta chips nuggets bread etc for the kids that dont eat extravagant foods. Burgers every lunch time. One night they had a bbq. Breakfast was always the same, omelette, eggs, cereal, pancakes your usual but lunch and dinner always had something different. We had fussy eaters in our group that always found something. There were no more flies that we get in England and as for the complaints for the birds they never bothered anyone. The only time I saw the birds being a pest is when guests would leave stupid amounts of food on the tables when they were leaving and little birds would come down and try and pinch it 😂 maybe those guests need a lesson in only putting what they are actually going to eat on their plates instead of being greedy then the birds wouldn't be trying to steal the food 🙂 some of the catering staff were a bit rude. But iv again you could get that anywhere and that didnt ruin my holiday. Yes the dining area could get busy but again, it's august, it's hot & staff were trying their best. We made friends with a waiter named Osama and he ensured we had a table for 12 every day and went out of his way to ensure we always had everything we needed. Yes we tipped him BUT we only tipped him because of his kindness not just because.

Bar staff worked there asses off. Its august, it's hot, there's a lot of guests. There are 2 bars that are open all day and evening for soft drinks and alcoholic drinks. (They dodnt do cocktails in the snack bar bit but it wasnt a long way to the other nar from the pool) Yes there were sometimes ques and I say sometimes because it wasn't always. But a bit of patience goes a long way. Imagine working in 45 degree heat in shirt and trousers and having guests shouting at you because your not going fast enough. There's no wonder some guests report the bar staff being rude to them because if I were them being scoffed at by some of the customers id be rude too. Personally we were always polite and waited our turn and we never experienced any rudeness from the bar staff. The 2 drink rule is fair in my opinion or you would be waiting longer in the ques but you know what, you ask them nicely and use your manners and they give you more than 2 anyway. You cant moan your stood in a que 20 mins but expect them to also serve you 7 drinks in 30 seconds.

Rooms were absolutely fine. Air con wasnt FANTASTIC but it did it's job. Put some card in the slot where the card goes in the room and leave the air con on continuous. Cleaners do an amazing job. Our cleaner was awesome. Tipped her a couple of times and left her some sweets some days and she always said good morning and played with the kids, always made sure our room had fresh bottles of water, always had the room sparkling every day, did some amazing little bits for the kids with the towels. Was the highlight of their day going back to see what the cleaner had done 😂😂 I took an extention lead so I didnt have to worry about plugs. Balconies are a fair size. We had a second floor room.

There is quite a big french english divide. The French entertainment team could be quite arrogant towards the english i have got to admit. They would do all the daytime entertainment in French and evening as all the French would mostly go down the the theatre for their entertainment and the english would sit by the resteraunt entertainment area. BUT. They have 2 entertainment teams. The international entertainment team were AMAZING. They would constantly walk up and down the sunbeds and talk to everyone, Announce their entertainment in english and French, played with the kids, asked EVERYONE to join in, help out with anything they could and genuinely tried their very best. Those guys are worked to the bone and they still always have a smile on their face and super positive vibes. Please be kind to them because a lot of people were so rude and then complain they didnt receive the same service as we did. All we did was be friendly and that's exactly what we received back. Again though I will illiterate that this was not the case with the french entertainment team. Even after our best efforts they did not want to engage with us english folk. But that was fine, the other entertainment team did enough to not be bothered about joining in with the French anyway 😂🤷‍♀️.

Sunbeds were getting a bit crazy round the main pool, get up early for a sunbed. If you dont mind where you are though there are plenty of other sunbeds dotted about.

If you do have any worries while you are there they had a manager guy turn up half way through our holiday called Mazine and he would go out of his way to help guests. Go speak to him and I promise he will help you solve any issues you have. He was always wandering around checking in, eating with guests at mealtimes and genuinely turning the atmosphere into a real positive vibe. He will do wonders for the valeria madina and I hope that the hotel continues to improve and go on to great things.

I would also like to give a big thankyou to Hiba, Emir & everyone from the animation team. Osama the waiter that ensured our mealtimes were an awesome experience, the lifeguards that always came and spoke to us especially Salah who went completely out of his way to make friends with us. Nasser for his amazing photos & And Mazine for ensuring everyone was happy, any problems were rectified straight away and making sure the entire resort felt welcome. He really does do a good job on making sure everything is constantly running smoothly. I hope we see you all again soon 🩵🤘

2* experience
Pros:

Unfortunately, all the poor reviews are absolutely spot on. I am not going to reiterate the problems with the rooms, the overcrowding at the entertainment pool, the poor service at the bar, no TUI UK rep available at all but what I will recommend if you are staying soon is:
1. The quiet pool by the slides is the cleanest and not overcrowded and we spent our days there. The downside to this is that the bar there is not part of the all inclusive (and only serves soft drinks and ice cream) and there is nowhere to get food. This pool is at the furthest point from the restaurant and all inclusive bar.
2. The Mango pool. It costs £8 for the day but is totally worth every penny. Also not included in the all inclusive though but the food and drinks are fantastic.
3. The Spa - have a treatment.
4. Book your excursions through Get your Guide - the sunrise hot air balloon was one of the best experiences ever.
5. The YSL gardens are a must if you like that sort of thing.
6. If you are going to the Souks use a guide too otherwise it is pure chaos.
We can’t believe that TUI put their name to this hotel or put their guests in it. Such a shame but we made the most of it because we had no choice.

Look elsewhere
Pros:

I am not one for writing reviews as we all appreciate different things but on this occasion I feel strongly that future guests need to be made aware of.
The hotel is nicely situated about 20mins out of Marrakesh it has typical features of a Riad you would expect. The hotel is spread out over a vast area so you do get your steps in everyday especially if you seem to English and placed in blocks 800/900 the furthest away from the pools bars restaurants, they are basic rooms poorly maintained dirty and quite dated, stains on bedding, we complained and eventually moved to an upgraded room. Better but not perfect.
2 other English families were also complaining and the following day a large number of other English families also complained.
The main pool gets extremely busy, there are not enough beds for the number of guests the hotel has. Empty glasses and water bottle’s can be seen lying around on the floor as they are not routinely collected perhaps once a day maybe. They usually have 4 life guards on because of how busy it is. It was noted on numerous occasions the life guards were very whistle happy often blowing his whistle tell an English child not to jump in the pool but then allow a French or Arabic child to do exactly the same…
I’ll say hats off to the animation team as during the day they would get lots of guests out the beds I’ve never been to a resort where I’ve seen so many people engaging with them dancing on the pool side doing activities in the water, however on an evening the same team would only seem to gravitate to French families when trying to get them to join in with evening entertainment.
The hotel is very much geared towards the French. I acknowledge this is their main language but I’ve never been to a resort where I’ve been made to feel one nationality is favoured more than another, I had read a previous post before we went that guests can be identified which country they are from by the colour of the wrist bands they are given. I was sad to see this was the case and how behaviours of hotel employees played out.
The food was actually pretty good. A good selection of foods but not really with fruit that was a poor show, Ice cream only at lunch time not evening time. And only one working drinks station for all the guests during meal times. Utterly ridiculous always a long queue whilst your food is then getting cold waiting for you to return to your table.
No where near enough staff at the hotel August will always be a popular month so it’s gonna be busy every year surely so in the 2 places you can get drinks during the day only have 1 or 2 staff on, staff in the restaurant can’t keep up with clearing away tables or even replacing the glasses at the drinks station, as soon as you get up to leave after eating another family has dived in to get the table as families are often left waiting for tables to become free let alone cleared away. And if you have read previous posts yes there are flies and several birds in the eating areas and nothing seems to be happening to clear them out or even stop them coming in, the birds are used to people so can be seen flying low and close to people as they peck off plates or off the floor.
Make the most of your stay here but be open minded, there is sadly an element of racism here,
Oh and to leave the best bit till last, a member of the animation team was doing to my teenage daughter by the pool one day it seemed a friendly chat and could see the woman typing on her phone throughout, no biggy. However when I asked my daughter what was that about the woman was actually typing out a 5 star review about the hotel on my daughter’s phone!!!! This was deleted straight after.

We have reached out to EasyJet separately but as a company perhaps you really should reconsider using this hotel, the British are only allowed to visit post Covid as the hotel was losing money.

Worst hotel ever
Pros:

This is NOT a 5 star hotel ! 2/3 at a push.
Our first time in Morocco & I can’t lie I did wonder what have we come to on our journey from the airport to the hotel - the lead up to the hotel was like that scene from the inbetweeners, nothing for miles !

The hotel itself - awkward, dated, smelly. To get in you walk through double doors that have no glass but a step - not ideal or clever for getting suitcases over. Let alone people in wheelchairs !

Reception staff seemed ok at first, however as we were there before 3pm check in we had to leave our luggage and wait in the bar for almost 4 hours, there was no where for us to get changed into costumes or clothes more suitable to the heat. We asked if we could go to our rooms earlier and were told yes they’d be done for 2. Come 2 o’clock neither room was ready, 230 one room ready the other was being done, they still gave us keys to both rooms !

Anyone that’s British / English and been here knows we as a race get pushed right to the other side of the hotel in blocks 8 & 9 away from the restaurants, pools, reception and bars. Some people may be ok with this, however my partner has a crutch due to hip problems and we asked if we could be nearer to the amenities due to her struggling to walk long distances or be on her feet for a long period of time. We’d also asked for the rooms to be next to one another and was informed they would be - we got given keys to 801 & 815 - no where near each other !!

Once inside the rooms they weren’t clean, air con barely works, and a very disturbing smell in them. Pillows had stains on them, floors still dirty, one room still had rubbish in the bins and plates inside it !! Water dribbled out the showers.

I asked about moving rooms and was told the hotel was full - I then went to speak to the management and was advised the next day they would move us closer to everything but we’d have to wait until 11am for people to check out. We accepted this and made the most of that night.

The following day 11am we go to reception to be then told we have to wait until 2pm ! We reiterated the need to be closer and rooms together- then 145 we go back on the off chance rooms are ready. Whilst in reception we encountered 3 other English families complaining about their rooms, the facilities at the hotel, and what a dive it is. One woman was even onto her travel agent to be moved away immediately she hadn’t even seen her room she had just walked round the hotel grounds !! Says it all.

On the flight from easy jet that landed the day after we arrived 18 families arrived at the hotel and every family raised issues with the hotel, a lot were told there was nothing the hotel could do as it was full. One family informed us they got hold of the easy jet rep and he advised them had they booked the holiday with him he would not have let them come to this hotel because of its reputation - make of that what you want to.

I then got into a heated argument with a receptionist called ‘Maz’ who didn’t like it when I pointed out all English and British people were shoved as far away as possible and it was a form of racism to us. Maz got over excited and raised his voice to which he was never going to win the argument about racism with me, he then decided he wouldn’t deal with me anymore but my partner managed to speak to him.

I in turn asked a nice young lad at reception on how to make a complaint about Maz, and explained the issues we had faced, within 15 minutes he had not only moved us closer but given us a free upgrade and even walked us to the rooms before we decided on moving to them, his professionalism and mannerisms were second to none and should definitely be working at a bigger and better hotel chain.

New rooms were recently upgraded - air con still appalling mind, only real difference was a tv in the room !

There is no where near enough staff for the size of the hotel.

The dining area is big, however the amount of flies around (inside) and also birds is concerning for hygiene alone !!! Nothing is done to discourage birds from entering the main restaurant area and they fly freely around the room ! The birds even come and eat off people’s plates !

Cutlery is hard to come across if your table isn’t already made up with it, you do have to go in search or it. Glasses are not always clean - and two drinks stations in the restaurant for around 3-400 people eating at one time. Poor !!

However the food was ok. Some days better than others, a wide variety of a lunch and evening time - however breakfasts not that much to choose from. Limited fruit available and not always the ripest or tastiest.

The pool bar was no better - flies around constantly again, glasses filthy even after being “washed” service very very slow ! One person could be serving whilst 20/30 people are stood waiting - yet you can see other staff milling around doing sweet f a !

The toilets by the pool are disgusting they smelt of sewerage every day ! And often when i did use them they were unclean inside with other people’s excrements still left inside toilets and on the seats ! So clearly not maintained or cleaned through the day.

Hotel staff also come round the pool asking for your phone to then go onto review sites and leave themselves a 5 star review !! So whatever you read about this hotel make sure it is genuine.

Be aware when booking excursions especially from companies in the market square as they give you a time, take payment then the day of the excursion change their pick up times ! Also a lot of hassle from street sellers or people wanting to give henna Tatoo’s, be careful as they will just start drawing on your hands even when you’ve said no and then tell you to pay what you want ! Haggling is a must and to be honest you can knock them down to dirt cheap prices probably the only good thing about the place.

As a whole I would not recommend coming to Morocco it’s dated, poor, unclean.

I certainly would NOT recommend this hotel, not worth the £5500 we paid for it, nothing in walking distance to it either you have to get taxis if you want to go anywhere and the main market place is 30/35 minutes away. We have also been informed twice and once by an easy jet rep that the hotel is owned by a French man who never used to let English people stay here and it was only after Covid had gone he changed as the hotel was about to go bankrupt - could explain why English people are treated like second class citizens on their stay.

Disappointing stay and even more disappointing a travel agent as big as easy jst advertise this place - not only will I never come to Morocco again but I also won’t be using easy jet in the future.

Don't bother if your from the UK
Pros:

If your from the UK or dont speak french udont bother coming here. Here now and all the animation team talk french through every show, every game, no English spoken at all, even tho there are hundreds from the UK here. The hotel is not kept as clean as it should be with wasps, flies and birds in the restraunts pooing everywhere its all on the seats and tables. Broken glass dosnt seem to bother the staff either they have no rush in cleaning it, or any glass for that matter you struggle to find a clean glass to drink out of. No wonder loads here say to bring your own cups. UK holiday companies should not be selling this place imo. Such a shame because if it was well run its a lovely hotel. Leave this place to the most rude nation on earth, the french.

Very very pleasantly surprised ☺️
Pros:

Please take the negative reviews as a pinch of salt! We had a mixed party of 22 (adults and kids) many of us were worried based on reviews we have read online! I can absolutely say I had no substantial problems whilst staying at the hotel, nothing that would prevent me from returning again!

The location of the hotel is about 25/30 minutes from Marrakech centre & airport so short transfer journey and short journey into town. There are plenty of taxis that sit outside the resort, just ask at reception and they will call a taxi to come pick you up. Abedo was our taxi driver the whole holiday and is the sweetest man!

We stayed in block 900 which was I think the furthest from reception but not terribly far, if you have mobility issues you can ask at reception, they have a buggy and if able to do so they are happy to take you to your riad. We arrived late at night, the check in process was smooth and we were all in our rooms within about 30 mins of arrival. The rooms are spacious, well equipped with a fridge and a hairdryer (no iron or kettle) plenty of lighting and plug sockets. Little balcony area with a table and chairs.

Housekeeping - Our room was immaculate every day and that is thanks to ‘Shabila’ (I think this is her name) the kindest, sweetest lady thank you for looking after our whole family. We will miss you! We had one day that our regular house keeping wasn’t there and had an issue with the stand in, which was handled by the manager swiftly.

Management & Staff - The service is great, Hicham (manager) was a fantastic help in many ways during our stay helping our party out with anything we needed whether that be recommendations or issues we had at hotel. The entertainment staff are fantastic they always had something going on for the kids and had all the energy in the world (in that heat) the staff at the kids club were also fab I cannot fault them.

Pools & Amenities - There was a total of 6 pools (I think) I didn’t actually make it to them all, the complex is huge! The main pool was always relatively busy but there is plenty of loungers around the area. We often went to the small pool with the pillars near to the main restaurant as was a cooler pool. There was a kids play area/water area which is beside the water slides which is fab, and there is snack bar over there which has to be paid for (no issue either take your own snacks over or get the all inclusive when you return to the main area) it is what it is! You also have the mango pool area which we visited one day. Access to the pool with a cabana bed and towels, 2 main meals, 2 cocktails, 2 soft drinks was £48 which I don’t think was bad. There is also a kids club which is great and the staff are great there too!

The spa services were fab, majority of our party went for a haman massage which is highly recommended!

Have medic/pharmacist on site which is good.

Food & Restaurants - I cannot fault the food, it is what it is, it’s all inclusive! Yes you will have times where it seems repetitive (that’s what all inclusive is - cooking for thousands of people they do what’s easy) but everyone in our party ALWAYS found something to eat. Breakfast was the same every day. Toast, eggs, beans, omelettes, pastries, salad, breads and cereals.

Lunch was burgers, chips, pizzas, salads, paninis, wraps, grilled meats, tagines, plenty of sweet treats and ice cream.

Evening meals lots of meats, tagines, casseroles, veggies, rices, potatoes, grilled meat and veg, pasta bakes, noodles, burgers and again plenty of sweet treats the list was endless there was ALWAYS something to eat!

There is also a snack bar between main pool and kids pool which serve pizza, burgers, paninis and fries through the day and other things. Yes there is little birds in the restaurant, no I didn’t see them on any food and there was always someone there with a palm leaf to deter them if they flew too close. Also never had any issues with the temp of the food, yes there is a microwave but I never had to use it as the food was always warm.

The only small issues I would potentially raise is that English and French guests get different coloured bands upon check in and I assume this is to allow the staff to know what language to speak to guests in. But I did find that sometimes French guest were getting prioritised at the bar when being served, or the service was slightly better for the French guests, again not something that would prevent me from returning. My second issue is the bar service was quiet slow I feel like they should maybe have more staff on the bars especially in the evening or at busy times majority of the time there was only 2 staff on a bar at at time.

I give 4/5 all over as there is room for improvement in certain areas but would definitely return! ☺️

Tips -
Bring thermal cups to keep drinks cold (also saves you waiting in bar line for a small drink)

Bring insect spray if you’re prone to bites

Avoid leaving opened snacks/drinks beside your loungers as bees will swarm!

Pleasant and Friendly Resort
Pros:

Just returned from a 10 day stay and can have no real complaints. Prior to going we had noticed negative social media feedback, but these people must have been at a different hotel.

Is it perfect, no it's not. Yes there are birds in the restaurant and wasps around the bar, but when people leave food lying around at the back of them then birds and wasps etc will be attracted.

I was in Riad 800 and the room was basic, but very comfortable and clean. The cleaning staff are excellent and attend daily with bottled water left in the room. I believe there is an ongoing modernisation of the rooms throughout the resort.

Food choices were excellent with several options to suit all tastes, while the pools and waterpark are superb.

Without doubt though the biggest strength the hotel has is with its staff. From cleaners, catering team, bar staff to animation team they are the friendliest group you could ever wish to meet. Nothing is too much trouble and they are always polite and helpful.

Ignore negative social media posts and visit with an open mind, I'm sure you won't be disappointed, I'd happily recommend Valeria to anyo e considering a visit.
