It was a lovely environment, rooms are nice and big, was a little loud at night with other guests around
The lifts are a little bit slow and only one person working the front desk meant to too a while to be serve each time
The staff were all nice except for one at the morning brekkie pantry.
Tucked into one of the lesser photogenic corners of the Sydney CBD — safely out of frame of anything actually worth looking at — the Kimpton Margot Sydney wants you to know it has five stars and heaps of heritage. It mentions this often, with the quiet confidence of a venue that knows the lobby is doing most of the heavy lifting.
From an architectural point of view it is, to its credit. It practically begs you to stay there rather than go anywhere else in the building — which, once you've seen the rest of it, stops feeling like good design and starts feeling more like a warning.
I arrived at 10am off an ultra long-haul flight to be greeted by a rehearsed smile and the news that my room wasn't ready. Unless, of course, I fancied paying another $100 to make it ready immediately. I declined this masterstroke of hospitality. So did most of the lobby, judging by the weary colony of guests napping upright on the furniture rather than get creatively re-billed.
Then there's the rooftop bar — the other heavy lifter and star of every booking-site photo, and probably half the reason this place gets booked at all. Closed for renovations. Just a sign promising "something exciting is coming." Nice one, Margot.
As an IHG status member, I was upgraded — generously speaking — to level 6, with an unbroken, intimate view of next door's fire wall, probably close enough to high-five, if only the windows opened. A room with a view, technically. Just not one anyone asked for. Daylight, I've since decided, is overrated — much like the five stars downstairs.
With a room best described as an adequately-lit storage unit, I gave the ground-floor lounge one last shot. Regretted it instantly. Acoustics like a car park, seating built to make you leave, staff serving the same manufactured warmth as check-in — just chilled. I finished my drink at record speed, less thirst than self-preservation, and retreated to my upstairs catacombs.
very unpleasant and uncomfortable that dogs are roaming around the hotel. Sitting on the sofas 🤢 definitely ruins the experience. Food choices were so poor and not suitable at all. The service was good but the dogs definitely made it unpleasant
I really love this hotel. And I can sometimes be picky!
We stayed in a stunning suite, and added a rollaway in the lounge for our teenager. The room was perfect. Spotless, stylish, quiet, great beds, tons of space, perfect bathroom, good air con, perfect wifi.
Breakfast at Luke’s kitchen was perfect every day.
Service was perfect from every person we came across. Always friendly, efficient, competent. Whoever manages staff training is doing a great job.
I mucked up a meal time, completely my fault, and they covered a quick replacement meal. Gracious and charming.
Wierd observation but it smells great too!
The location is easy. One block to the light rail on George st, about 3 blocks in a straight line to the Pitt st mall.
Right now the pool is closed, I think they are rebuilding but it didn’t matter being winter.
I will definitely stay again. Everything felt easy.
Everything. So close to everything. Yet so quiet. Bed was so comfortable. And that Peach Iced tea. Loved it. What a wonderful addition.
None.
Loved the decor staff were very friendly
Stunning presentation
Nothing
The hotel was beautiful and the Concierge staff were very friendly and helpful.
The beds were comfortable and the bathroom one of the largest I have seen in a hotel. Overall we had a very nice stay and would return with a few possible tweaks to suit our needs at the time.
We had dinner at Luke's and the food was amazing and service was perfect. BG was a gorgeous human and excellent attendant.
Unfortunately our experience with the bar staff was very uncomfortable and had the feeling he didn't want to be there or maybe he just didn't want to serve us, that's how it felt.
Due to needing two beds we were in an connecting room and the noise from the people Next door was louder than I would assume in a standard room due to the cracks in the connecting doorway.
We also found the noise coming up from Pitt Street made it difficult to sleep. My suggestion would be to contact the hotel prior to your stay and request a room away from Pitt Street.
Cool without being pretentious, elegant without being stuffy, and quiet enough that I actually forgot I was staying in the middle of the city. The location made everything ridiculously easy—we walked almost everywhere. Great atmosphere, beautiful design, and one of those hotels that just makes you happy to come back to after a day out. I’d check in again in a heartbeat.
Nothing!!
The hotel is very well appointed and is in a great location. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The Social Hour is great. For one hou, guests are encouraged to mingle while being provided with complimentary wine, bubbles, or mocktails.
The glass in the windows in our room were frosted because the building is located quite close to another building. This prevented us from looking out of the room.
Everything
Location and the room size
Every thing was best.
Good location near town Hall.
Decent value for money in the city.
Staff were great and were able to check in early.
Probably another hook or rail in the bathroom for hanging.
Not a problem but would have been more desirable if the twins were both doubles or at least king singles.
The staff was Fantastic .Nice big rooms and great location.
