An excellent setting with lovely staff and outstanding food. In addition, it is very dog friendly.
Would have been nice to have a lock on the bathroom door. Also, if they run out of something, like a specific bread it would be better to ask the customer what they would like in its place.
The rooms were large and very comfortable. The spa was nice for a short break and very clean and well maintained. Grounds and setting were very nice. Food was all nicely presented and well prepared with a small but good menu.
Would stay again.
There are some small areas for improvement..
- vegans need protein too. We stayed for two dinners and one lunch and, while the food was nice, there was a lack of protein. (beans, tofu).
- vegan and vegetarian options lacked variety - with only one option available for vegans.
- while I dont expect a Saunameister to patrol the facilities there was a worrying lack of sauna etiquette with people drinking and applying cream in the sauna - which polutes the air and defeats the main purpose of the sauna.
- the gym is rather small - though fine for a short stay
The staff were outstanding very polite and helpful. The surrounding grounds were amazing and the games rooms and facilities excellent. The food standard wes wonderful both Breakfast and dinner. The Spa facility was good with two pools to choose from.
Our room was terribly noisy with a generator on all the time even at night. it was near the kitchen area and we could hear regular dumping of bottles and other things to the bins and we would not stay in that area again. Also because the room is right next to the hotel and there is no double glazing we could hear every conversation as people walked by.I felt the Spa area woodwork is badly deteriating and looked like it needed a bit of presevative as very soon will be beyond repair. It didnt look safe on the balcony area!! The room could do with better lighting as it seemed very dark with all the lighting against one wall.
Lovely surroundings, pools and spa area were a delight on a sunny day. Dining was lovely, and food was fabulous.
Bed very uncomfortable to be honest, As this was a special occasion, it was a little disappointing, but having said that, the staff and surroundings more than made up for it.
Exceptional! The approach to the accommodation is beautiful. The Hotel itself is something from a fairytale - you're instantly transported to a by-gone era. Our room was upgraded upon arrival and was fresh & clean with everything we required.
The staff were attentive and professional finding the balance of leaving you to enjoy the peace, whilst also actively seeking you out to check you're catered for no matter where you decide to sit within the hotel grounds. The communication from the Reception team prior to arrival was also fantastic.
The spa was inviting, non-pretentious and clean with comfortable footwear, towels and robes provided. Really couldn't ask for more!
The shower was exceptionally slow to drain, taking only a minute or two to completely fill the tray to overflowing. It meant the shower needed to be switched off every 30 seconds to allow to drain before proceeding. The sink was also similar, running the tap for a couple of seconds resulted in a full-ish sink that then took a minute or so to drain.
The grounds and the rooms where great
The spa treatments where not good, the jacuzzi x2 both. Or working paid a very high amount for treatment to have to lay on a waterbed, was not good at all treatment it’s self was not great, but very polite
Good food, excellent room.
Children use of the spa/ swimming pool area to restricted.
Good facilities, great food and drinks.
Limited internal seating, when none residential functions on site.
Children usage of spa to restricted.
Pretty grounds
Not well maintained
Archie, the peacock. The grounds, the spa looked good although we did not use it.The staff were exemplary. The exterior of the building. The breakfast.
The hotel is dangerously dark inside to the point my husband used a torch to reach room(Weftlowe)and to open door.It is too expensive. We stayed at The Hillton,Park Lane, in AprilI paid half of the cost of this hotel. We stayed(we were upgraded)in a suite..the food at The Hilton as at The Landmark and The Brasserie of Light is about two thirds of the price at Baliffscourt. The wardrobe door in the room did not close,we rescued 2 large insects in the room(put them out of the window)The window surrounds are rotting(my husband designed Terminal 3 at Heathrow as well as hotels in London!)The bed was too small...we are not that big.The beverages are under par(coffee at breakfast.tea bags ,coffee bags in room)
Excellent team great restaurants service first class Paul Taylor
