Room was top of the house and was very dark with only 1 small window which looked out on the side of the roof

Perfectly Located
Pros:

We paid a small fortune to stay here because we could step off the train and walk to the hotel. The rooms are nice and we slept well. The town really gets peaceful when the cruise ships leave. The staff was helpful arranging transportation for the next leg of our trip.

Cons:

Breakfast was OK, not great.

The cost of the hotel is outrageous for the value. $954 for one night. Expected a lot more for that price. The rooms are sub par. I am surprised that you allow those prices to exist for the quality. The local paper apparently wrote an article on their price gouging.

Amazing views, beautiful spot!

Amazing views around the hotel and great location - very close to ferries/boat/train/bus station. Great food at the restaurants in the hotel.

Cons:

I mentioned in my booking it was 'my birthday' (25 Aug) and none of the hotel staff must have read the information as no one even greeted me nor acknowledged the information. With the price of the room for one night (USD 1K+), i expect at least a simple greeting. Even when requested for flexibility of checkout (till latest 12.30pm as had a tour finishing at 12, was told i have to pay which i respected as their policy). I understand there's not many choices of hotels in the area, hence, no other option for accommodations. Nevertheless, the place is very scenic and breathtaking view - thus, the price you have to pay!

Check the cruise schedule before shelling out $$$ for a room.

The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff was very nice and the food at the restaurant was great.

Cons:

We chose Flåm and this hotel expecting quiet views of the fjord. This was optimistic—particularly at $1,089 for one night.

When we arrived, the 1,200-passenger “Ambition” was docked directly in front of the hotel, completely blocking the fjord. So for $1,089, our “fjord-view” room came with a spectacular, unobstructed view of a cruise ship. It departed around 7:30 p.m., and we briefly discovered that there was, in fact, a beautiful fjord behind it.

By morning, the 3,000+ passenger Fabulosa was pulling into its place. Thousands of passengers then poured into tiny Flåm, overwhelming the shops, cafés, and restaurants.

Flåm itself is spectacular. But if your vision involves arriving in a peaceful Norwegian village, wandering around spontaneously, and enjoying the tranquil wilderness, check the cruise schedule first. Otherwise, you may find yourself enjoying Norway’s natural splendor alongside 3,000 lanyard-wearing cruise passengers.

Cons:

The most overpriced hotel in Norway - small room with view to cruise ship and hords of tourists walking in front of the window, costly (1k Eur / night) simply absolute nonsense. Entire Flam is tourist / cruise ship trap, better to avoid.
