It was memorable!
Pros:

We ended up both nights having a drink in the little bar which turned out to be nice as not much else was open in town! It was walking distance to the Abbey which was one of our destinations for heritage searching.

Cons:

The bed was too soft. No facecloth. Breakfast between 7:30 and 8:30 was too short a window and he closed the room at 8:30 so you could not linger or come a little later

It was only one night so ok but would not stay longer.
Pros:

It was clean and the staff friendly.
The location was very good.

Cons:

The room smelt damp. It was an old building with uneven floors which meant the bed sloped slightly.
The breakfast was a little odd. I have never had scrambled eggs made from what looked like chopped up hard boiled eggs before. The other items on offer looked fine.

Unwelcoming & overpriced.
Pros:

It was handy for the town and the room was a decent size and was quiet.

The breakfast was pretty basic but was nicely cooked.

Cons:

Check in was at 3pm, which is fine, but you are literally unable to access the property at all until that time!

When we did gain access to the hotel, the bar didn’t open until later, so you couldn’t even get a drink!

Finally got in the bar, which was very shabby and unwelcoming. The pool table was terrible, the balls were different sizes, it didn’t take new £1 coins and it was situated in such a way that you couldn’t hit the balls without hitting the walls!

The bed was comfy enough but on a strong slant, so you must go to bed on friendly terms!

We parked in the place advised, which was hard to find and was a terrible mess next to a derelict shed full of pigeon poo, but despite giving our registration when checking in, upon leaving we had a snotty note on our windscreen advising us that the parking was for hotel guests only!

The breakfast was nicely cooked, but everything seemed very much like the budget range of the supermarket. Nothing inherently wrong with that, but it wasn’t a particularly cheap hotel, so you’d be forgiven for expecting something a little more. There was no choice either, just the usual cereal and toast and then a cooked breakfast, no Eggs Benedict or kippers etc.

Wonderful long weekend break
Pros:

Amena and Abdu were exception hosts so friendly and helpful, they made us feel at home . They work very hard to accommodate their guests. We stayed in room 11 which looked out onto the high street, the bed was very comfortable, the room was cleaned every day and the shower was excellent.

Cons:

The town could do with more high street shops, like every where in the country they have lots of vacant stores but we visited Kelso which is a busier town. For three days and nights it was fine.
