The front-of-house staff were the nicest four ladies that seemed to work all the time. Early morning they are there with a smile and late evenings you see the same people. The breakfast was included and it was excellent. They were more than willing to alter meals for my vegan friend and everything was spot-on.
Since it was winter, the fireplaces throughout the hotel were always burning, giving it a lovely cozy atmosphere!
Instant coffee in the room. Argh! No alcohol in the minibar: it's a mini-BAR after all?
Great
The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout the property. Very good breakfast and dinner.
The atmosphere; warm and cozy.. The food was good. Location is peefect.
NA
The breakfast pancake option was an absolute winner. Room was spacious. Staff had no problem to upgrade us to a bigger room with a view. The reception was very apologetic for the cold water and asked if they could give us a discount to make up for it. We declined as that was not why we mentioned it
The sensor for the light in the bathroom is not nice especially at night going to the bathroom everything is lit up. The unit was beautiful but previous guests definately smoked cigars in there which we did not appreciate. Next morning we did not have hot water at all in the bathroom.
It was very charming. The food was excellent.
A few things were not working - lights, no lotion in the lotion dispenser in the bathroom, not enough 2 prong outlets for charging phones/watches etc.
Friendly staff
Good vibes
Cozy lounge
Nice food
Comes with the trademark of the hotel but the room was a bit older and felt a bit stuffy, nice bathroom though!
Gorgeous patio, location and charm
Breakfast
The Royal hotel is a classic in the Riebeeck Valley. Staff are friendly, location is great. Nice fireplaces in the lounge areas of the hotel. Food and drinks were also great
Only downside was that we booked a king suite which are a bit more expensive. Was a bit of a disappointment that we could not use the fireplace in the room. We stayed in these rooms before and was looking forward to using the fireplace but was told that it is not allowed anymore. The room also had a problem with ants. But that all said - we still had a great stay and will recommend it. We noticed that they are starting to clear an area in front of the existing rooms and were told that they are going to add additional rooms. Hope the owners will keep in mind that they shouldn't take the view away from the existing rooms.
