Stay here you'll love it.
Pros:

The lodge is beautiful cozy little spot on the way into the canyon. Staff were excellent friendly and informative. The food was great at the restaurant cafeteria. Just loved it.

If you're visiting Canyon de Chelly, consider staying at or stopping by Thunderbird Lodge. The lodge sits right at the mouth of the canyon, and the log-cabin style buildings immediately set the mood for the trip. It feels like you're already in the canyon experience before you even reach the overlooks.
One thing I appreciated is that Canyon de Chelly is entirely on Navajo land. Everyone I met during my visit was Navajo, which gave the place an authenticity that would be difficult to find elsewhere.
The lodge and the Thunderbird Cafeteria were highlights of the day. Sometimes a destination is remembered as much for the atmosphere as for the scenery, and this was one of those places.

Ist eine lodge und kein Hotel
Pros:

Die Lage zum Chelly Canyon ist ideal. Wir sind dann von dort auch zum 4 Corners Monument gefahren.

Cons:

Das Hotel hat seine besten Zeiten hinter sich.Die Klimaanlage war leider laut und wirkungslos.
Das Personal war leider nicht sehr freundlich. Das angeschlossene Café bzw. Selbstbedienungs Restaurant war ein Nightmare. Vom unfreundlichen Personal bekam man überteuertes zum Dinner oder auch zum Frühstück serviert. Am zweiten Abend sind wir dann nach Chinle zu Dennys gefahren. Das war dann in Ordnung

Stay in this lodge to experience a piece of history amid the beauty of the Southwest high desert
Pros:

Nostalgic vibes at this historic lodge which retains much of its original character from a bygone era. The location is lovely and cool, set amid big shady trees. Unique experience eating at the cafeteria where local staff greet you warmly. Rooms have vintage but sturdy furnishings with tribal motifs. The location was perfect for visiting Canyon de Chelly.

Cons:

Pillows and mattress were a bit too firm. Perhaps a mix of pillows-some firm, some softer - would be good.
