Pros:

The room was clean and tidy with comfy mattresses everything you'd expect for the price

Cons:

For a shared bathroom to only have 1 toilet got a bit crowded a couple of times

Old world pub atmosphere close to transport and Nex convention venue.
Pros:

Was very close to our conference venue of the Nex on King St. I was able to take airport bus to interchange and light rail to Honeysuckle stop then a short walk from there to hotel. Airport taxis in the realm of $80-$100.
Good food in restaurant and general pub atmosphere. Staff were always helpful.
Weekend music noise not too intrusive on upstairs rooms. Shared bathroom but only saw one other guest in there during my 4 days so not a problem.

Cons:

The bathroom air-freshner got a bit much as I am used to lots of fresh air.

We would stay at another location & eat more at the Bella Italia
Pros:

Initially the restaurant was appealling BUT that deteriorated after a few visits, see next question. The staff served well in restaurant & bar.

We found an excellent italian restaurant on Hunter Street near Union Street.

Cons:

The springs could be felt, making sleep very uncomfortable. Every time we entered the room all we could smell was cigarette smoke, (we do not smoke). My observation is the smoke was coming from the smoking area outside the front of hotel. We shared the accommodation with cockroaches. The shower had limited space which made it dificult to have a comfortable shower.
Every night a beeping sound was heard in the room between 2230 & 0000hrs then again in the early hours of the morning. This sound interupted our sleep. The beeping noise was reported BUT it did not cease or did we receive any feedback.
As above the restaurant started well BUT the food deteriorated. Some examples - Most food was over cooked, singed or hard on the tooth. Aranchini balls were gluggy & soggy in the middle. The cauliflower bites were burnt on outside & hard in centre. One night the sticky date pudding was excellent then the 2 serves the next night were burnt & crumbly. etc. etc.
There was one cook that focused more on his mobile phone than his cooking.

Rooms were well below basic and depressing. Tea is cheap crap brand and has no actual flavour. Milk is crap. Room over noisy. Just outdated. Basically they don't care and it shows.

Great location if I didn't get woken up at 4am every morning
Cons:

Junkies up the hall keeping me up at 3 am on a Monday night and the pokies error noise waking U ap at 5 mins to 4 am every morning. Very inconvenient when getting up for work or if traveling with a child. Good staff. Great location just a few issues. Maybe invest in some sound proofing

The room stunk of cigasmoke. Even though no smoking signs.
Shower recess had mold in it.
