Would not recommend this hotel .
Pros:

Didn't have breakfast

Cons:

Letting us know before we arrived that lift wasnt working as ongoing renovations were ongoing. Room was freezing (first floor) and electrical fault no electricity in morning for coffee shower before departing to go cruise.

Great location, large room, great breakfast
Pros:

Great location, lovely old building, very large rooms and good bathroom.

Cons:

They are doing renovations that should be completed in a few months-elevator was out of commission during our visit. Very minimal parking, or anywhere in Scotland, so get there early to get a spot. Desk people couldn’t have been more helpful.

Don't stay here!
Pros:

We never completed our stay cause the room was gross.

Cons:

Drips down the walls, door handle almost fell off to the main door, mattress on the bed was calapsed from over use, mold in the tub and on the floor. The photos are not even close to what the hotel offers.

Visit May 2026
Pros:

Honest review . Stayed with friend for 3 nights in May 2026 in a twin room . The rooms are a little tired as is the hotel but it serves as a good base to get around Oban .
The hotel was quiet at night and sleep was fine .
The location is amazing , views over Oban bay .
If when considering booking you imagine a dated 4 star 1970s hotel in need of a make over but excellent location , then you kind of get what you pay for .
We paid £100 per night which I thought was acceptable for what we got .
Would I stay again ? Yes providing the rate was good

The hotel has a long way to go to be adequate.
Pros:

Breakfast was good and Zac in the bar and the member of staff running the breakfast were both very good

Cons:

A room described as a cosy double had only a four foot wide bed. No bedside tables and hence no bedside light. Couldn’t stand up in parts of the room because of sloping ceiling. Trying to do a major refurb (which is very necessary) is difficult with guests in. Lift was still out of order going by previous reviews.

It was fine but I would never stay here again or recommend it. Just too dirty.
Pros:

Location

Cons:

It is very old and run down. Old is fine. But it needs a few clean. Doors and handles are black with grim. Carpets at least need to be vacuumed.

Clean and convenient location but a tired old hotel.
Pros:

Location was good.

Cons:

This was an old building which has at least had a lick of paint but needs a bit more refurbishment.

Would not stay here again unless massively upgraded
Pros:

the seafront location

Cons:

room was dreadful very badly decorated, things falling apart, floor not level. Lift broke down and had to go up and down 3 floors, both over 70.
Very poor value felt like a servants room at top of hotel at nearly £200 a night extremely poor value. Lots of items missing at breakfast lack of choice. Hardly any staff
