Pros:

Nice and clean place very quiet area walking distance to sigiriya rock, friendly staff, after last visit this ia my second visit, there is an big progress, food was realy nice

We had a lovely time at the Royal Retreat and would return.

Staff were very helpful (booking tuk tuks and transfers). Rooms were comfortable.

Beatiful place, very friendly staff and close to lion rock
Pros:

Great location, fantastic pool, beautiful garden. The new manager and his staff were truly helpfull and welcoming us during our stay. I would definitely come here again.

A pleasant stay with friendly service and a convenient location.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was convenient. The breakfast was good and had a nice variety of options.

Hotel territory and buildings are beautiful but not a best place to stay more than one night
Pros:

Water was really hot. Mesh on top of the bed was helpful. Also there were no other guests at the hotel, it was quite.

Cons:

Hotel was not expecting for us to arrive and didn’t want to let us in until so we had to negotiate with them for a long time for having a booking via website. Even we were the only guests at all hotel it seems that people just don’t need any clients. There was a lot of mosquitoes inside of the room, I asked hostess twice for having an electric fumigator, she said that she will give it to us but she never back. The room was not ready, so we had to wait another 30 minutes. Bathroom was dirty, both bath and sink had a dirt film, with sand, oil and black hairs on the floor, like it was cleaned maybe once per month. I couldn’t even use bath for not getting some disease. So as a pool that haven’t been cleaned for many weeks.
Just after 2 hours I tried to find hostess, or any other worker , but hotel was completely empty.
Breakfast was horrible, besides a juice food was clearly not smelling well and cold like it was just some residues from previous days, so paying extra for a food has no reason.

Exceptional kind people. Only people in that part of Sri Lanka that didn’t ask for extra money .
Pros:

Manager went far and beyond to make our stay amazing and feel special. Highly recommend the continental breakfast which included exceptional coffee and omelettes.
Kind and generous people with time and energy.
