The Marine Hotel

Dirty carpets, dirty sink, extremely small bed, not polite gentlemen at the reception asking for the credit card details (CVV code and the rest) as they dld not have a scanner at the reception. When challenged, he said it was written in the terms and conditions document, and even they themselves could not find it! The customer needed to show the card not hand over all the details to the receptionist. Although everything was pre-paid we were forced to hand over our card details. Hope the card details will not end up being stolen!

Came here for my birthday, car park was 10 buildings down behind another hotel. Found bed bugs in the first room, very awful room stains on carpet walls and mouldy smell, with a view of the fire escape and a wall. Was given a second room which smelled awful like mould, and vomit, and was so dirty you could not even tell if it may have also had bed bugs. Walls scratched with blood marks by the bed, carpet thats stained and worn out, the whole hotel smells very bad, taps in bathroom move around whole hotel is in need of a serious renovation. Went back to reception to complain, and explained I will not be staying here due to the above reasons, and asked for a refund, and was told by the manager, we have rooms for you to stay in so we wont give you a refund. Attempting to ask booking.com for a refund. Could not find another hotel so late so had to drive all the way back to London, 5hours. Beautiful location though shame I did not get to explore it.

Didn’t inform us there were renovations happening. Workers outside the window no view as scaffolding made the room dark.

Bathroom was small if u on large size u struggle

Lift didn’t work.
Pool was out of order for half the stay.
Room wasn’t as advertised and cost.
Scaffolding and works going on, place in general looking old and tired.
Couldn’t fit in the shower.

It is a little run down, decoration wise.

I was extremely disappointed with my stay. After booking, I was only then informed that the hotel was undergoing construction work via WhatsApp, something that should have been clearly disclosed beforehand.

The photos on Booking.com did not accurately reflect the current condition of the hotel or the rooms.
The property felt tired and poorly maintained. Carpets throughout the hotel were stained, doors were covered in fingerprints, the windows had not been properly cleaned, and the bathroom was dated, with stained shower curtains that gave it an uninviting appearance.
Housekeeping was also below expectations. I was provided with only one bath towel for a three-day stay even after following instructions that if you need a new one to leave in shower, and my room was serviced just once. Additionally, the lift was out of service, which should have been communicated before arrival, especially for guests with luggage or mobility concerns. No assistance with luggage to be taken down four flights of stairs was offered before departure, nor did staff check in to ensure my stay was comfortable.
While the hotel’s location is excellent, the overall standard of the property and service fell far short of expectations. The lack of air conditioning made the room uncomfortable, and even providing fans would have made a noticeable difference. Overall, I felt the hotel did not offer the quality or value that was advertised, it felt like a retired old people’s home, where dreams go to die.

The rooms need a lot of attention i.e. furniture need fridge in room, lack of facilities in the hotel

The lift we needed was out of order. Not an easy journey to the room.

No parking except for on street ( blue badge), no changing rooms for pool, building projects, scaffolding outside, power tools at 8.30 AM

The carpet needs replacing my only real fault

We weren't told the Hotel had scaffolding round it.
The swimming pool was closed
The sink in the bedroom was cracked
