Cleanliness, roominess
The surrounding block
Très bruyant

View
Bathroom dated, sink cracked. Not enough towels, no dedicated pool towels. Took over an hour to get replacement toaster, no frypan.
The high level
Small shared bathroom
The suite was large and comfortable, as was the bed.
Great apartment, nice views towards the river, large comfy bed, good selection of kitchen facilities and in easy walking distance of the train station / city / river areas.
Nothing
New and stylish
Located on a dodgy street/ area- view was not great
The apartment is spacious with a good central location within walking distance of downtown attractions, and the bed was comfortable.
I held high expectations for Meriton Suites as a premium five‑star serviced apartment, yet my stay was completely ruined by a deeply distressing incident.
My Tissot watch — a sentimental keepsake gifted to me by my late grandmother, which I had owned for over ten years — went missing immediately after housekeeping cleaned my room. There are no security cameras in the bathroom, leaving us with virtually no way to confirm exactly what took place. It is absolutely shocking that such a loss could occur at an upscale accommodation in Australia. This reflects very poorly on both this property and Australia’s reputation as a safe travel destination. The watch carries far more emotional value than monetary value.
I strongly warn future guests: do not leave any valuables unattended in your room, even while housekeeping is cleaning. Always lock valuables in the in‑room safe.
Beyond this upsetting loss, in‑suite facilities are noticeably outdated. The stovetop looks as though it burns with a strong flame, yet boiling water and cooking take roughly five times longer than they would with appliances back in China. The microwave is similarly inefficient: food that reheats in 30 seconds at home remains cold after two‑and‑a‑half minutes here. The hair dryer is also well‑worn; drying hair takes approximately three times as long. The surrounding area also has a visible homeless population on nearby streets.
I earnestly request hotel management to conduct a thorough internal investigation, strengthen staff training, and implement stricter protocols to safeguard guests’ possessions. A five‑star property ought to guarantee basic guest safety, rather than exposing visitors to risks of missing personal items. This experience has been incredibly upsetting. I hope management will treat this complaint with full seriousness.
I have also submitted a formal complaint email directly to the property management and hope they will reach out to me to follow up on this matter.
