L'Argamak Boutique Hotel Historic Center

The reception staff attempted to scam us at reception by overcharging 20% and hoping we did not notice. When I pointed out the error he incorrectly pointed out that he had converted from euros not USD, which still would have been 10% overcharged. See previous reviews where they have tried this before/used the exact same excuse and be vigilant when paying. I am 99% sure we were still overcharged the tourist tax even after this.

Reception staff were pleasant to my partner but rude to my throughout/never really made any attempt to apologise for either the room or attempted scam.

Ventilation was non existent in the bathroom so we were forced to open both the hallway door and window to clear smells / humidity.

We were given a room on the ground floor facing a brick wall (under one metre from window) so there was zero natural light. When we asked to move we were only offered the chance to pay 50 extra a night for a more premium room despite the previous guests in our room having been moved to a better view while we checked in (we overheard them complaining about the room as we waited and which we were subsequently given).

Check in was delayed by 30 minutes due to the last minute room shift.

Breakfast is served outside which would be lovely in summer but in 10 degrees it was odd wearing winter coats to eat cold - albeit high quality - food.

Given the above we do not recommend and regret booking. It was the poorest value hotel of our two weeks in the country. Reading all the other reviews, it is clear that those in the same room as us had different experiences to those assigned garden facing ones/are being significantly overcharged.

Maybe no facilities as elevator

The indoor dining room that is used for breakfast (when it’s too cold to sit in the delightful courtyard), needs upgrading and improving.

Not the best option for people with a walker or with any disability. There are no lifts and there are no walking showers.

Beyond bedrooms and a lovely central garden there seemed to be few other activities for guests in the hotel.

Pas op met dit hotel. Ze rommelen met de wisselkoersen en de lokale belastingen. Een en ander resulteert erin dat er aanzienlijk meer wordt afgeschreven van je creditcard dan Booking aangeeft. Je krijgt dan een verhaal dat dat ligt aan de wisselkoersen, maar een verschil van 10% of meer ligt natuurlijk niet aan wisselkoersen. Let ook op dat je geen kamer op de begane grond naast de receptie krijgt. Die kamers zijn zeer gehorig. De kamers op de eerste en tweede verdieping zijn prima.

The bathroom wasn’t useful, you can’t stand properly under the shower and you can’t stand in front of the sink.

Our bathroom was disappointing. The shower and the sink tap were borderline unusable. The water pressure, and volume that were coming out were really poor. The shower was lukewarm to cold. I discussed this with the staff and they said they would look into it, but never did. Considering the price, I would have expected more. Due this, I would not return to the hotel.

Don’t be put off by the entrance being on a small side street, it’s a residential street and a very short distance to the entrance to Amir Timur mausoleum.
