Room was clean and comfortable and the shower was new and with excellent water pressure.
Nice breakfast too. EV charging points are available.
Unfortunately it was a very hot day at the end of hot week. The room has a large window and glass door and faces straight into the morning sun and was impossible to cool in the evening. The only way was to leave the door open, but with the room facing the car park, it was not really and option for long. The weather is no one's fault of course, but we slept badly as a result. Some shading outside would have helped.
A fan was provided, but it only really circulated hot air.
Friendly Staff and cleanliness
For £90 a night, The Maypole in Wellow offered reasonable value, but overall the experience was somewhat disappointing. The room had its own private entrance, similar to an American motel, which I actually quite liked. The room itself was clean, and the ensuite bathroom was modern with a good shower. Tea and coffee-making facilities were provided, and room service was available, although we did not use it.Unfortunately, the room became extremely hot with very little airflow. Given that temperatures reached 31°C just a couple of days before our stay, I can only imagine how uncomfortable it must have been then. The room felt rather like a fishbowl. Another issue was the toilet, which was not properly secured to the floor and moved every time it was used. Apart from being concerning, it was also quite noisy during the night when trying not to disturb your partner. The staff throughout our stay were lovely, friendly and professional. It was obvious they were working with limited resources, yet they remained efficient and helpful at all times. We had booked dinner for four people, as I was meeting my two sons. I had originally reserved a table for 6:15pm, the hotel called to ask if we could move the booking to 7pm due to demand, which was not a problem. On arrival we were informed there would still be a wait, and we were eventually seated around 45 minutes later. This was not due to a lack of tables, as many remained empty, but because there was only one member of kitchen staff working. The food was mixed. My lamb rump was delicious, while my husband found his steak and ale pie dry and the chips overcooked, leaving much of the meal uneaten. One son's burger was fairly unremarkable, while my other son thoroughly enjoyed the sea bass and risotto. The bar furniture also appeared tired and well-worn, giving parts of the hotel a slightly neglected feel. I would rate The Maypole between two and three stars. The cleanliness of the room and the excellent staff elevated the...

Room very light inside no proper curtains to stop morning light in . Extremely warm inside no ventilation or air on
L'accueil
C'est un tres petit detail , la dimension de la télévision trop petite depuis le lit
Hard to find using GPS
The Maypole is a very attractive looking Hotel . It's in a very pretty village. The room is quite large plenty of draw space, the bathroom is large. Plenty of tea n coffee available. The Sunday lunch was excellent and service excellent. The staff were very helpful. We will definitely return. We had our dog with us he was not allowed in the restaurant but he was made very welcome in the bar.
Nothing at all
Lovely cosy stay , clean and welcoming
Nothing
Its location and available car parking
The room was very dated and in poor decorative order. The net curtain was badly torn and was hanging down due to broken curtain hooks, the paint on the ceiling over the shower was badly blistered and flaking. The valance sheet on the bed was very stained. The cleaning standards lacked attention to detail. I have photos of the dirt build up in the shower. We were in the noisiest rooms in the house we had traffic noise through the night so didn’t sleep well.
We were greeted very aggressively on arrival- despite writing to the hotel in advance and being reassured our early arrival wouldn’t be a problem, we were greeted sharply and told rudely in no uncertain terms that we would have to pay £10 to check in early! Even though we’d made it very clear we understood and had no expectation of being allocated our rooms until after 2pm. It was a very unpleasant and unexpected start to our stay. I didn’t bother to inform the hotel of our feelings and findings- after the greeting we received and given we were only there for a few days we got on with it.
Good location , nice welcoming bar and eating area.
Good food
Friendly staff
Easy parking
Our room was in need of a tidying up, Mainly paintwork (room 13 ). Lock on front door was problematic. Room was really hot due to the nice weather and would have benefited from a small fridge for our water and drinks .
Room 11 has no blind above the door for the window so the light is a problem when trying to sleep.
