Le château est intéressant extérieurement et le cadre est agréable, mais pour nous cet établissement ne correspond absolument pas au niveau attendu d’un 5 étoiles.
La chambre était confortable, mais certains détails surprennent fortement à ce niveau de prix et de classement : installations de douche en plastique, peu ou pas de service pour les bagages, absence de préparation de la chambre pour la nuit, et prestations générales assez quelconques.
Le restaurant nous a également déçus : cuisine correcte sans plus, tarifs élevés, service lent et peu professionnel. Des détails étonnants pour un établissement de cette catégorie : pas de couteau à poisson, pas de pipettes pour le whisky. Le matin, l’ananas avait même un goût d’oignon, probablement dû à l’utilisation du même couteau ou de la même planche en cuisine.
La décoration intérieure nous a semblé froide et impersonnelle, davantage proche d’une chaîne hôtelière type Holiday Inn que d’un château 5 étoiles.
En résumé : une belle enveloppe, mais très peu de contenu derrière. Je ne sais pas sur quels critères repose cette classification 5 étoiles, mais elle nous paraît clairement excessive.
Nous ne recommandons pas cet établissement.
Tout était parfait.
The manicured approach gave the sensation of exclusivity . The greeting was nice and the room was charming in faux deco style and you want for nothing in the room.
The linen quality and bed was excellent.
The shower was not powered but adequate pressure .
Breakfast was fine , not because the porridge was mediocre , it was not it was excellent as to was the use of true, fresh orange juice but the team lacked any customer engagement.
Ultimately however, a very comfortable stay with a charming welcome note in the room and just a touch more intensive customer service discussions .
Highlight of team was Angela the night porter very sincere and a joy to talk to.
The breakfast greeting was non existent from the front desk , so varying degrees of engagement by the team from great to good to indifferent .
Turn down service was not offered to me but the luxury of the property should dictate that this needs to be at least offered as a service if you so choose.
Porterage would also be welcome, although in my case it was not necessary but generally this front line of defence goes a long way to set the tone for a venue ( you don’t get a second chance to create a first impression )

Castle is great but don’t eat at Tricadero’s. Service and food very poor.
We stayed in the hotel portion of the Crossbasket which was extremely nice and clean. Luxury scents, shampoo, conditioner, and soaps within the bathrooms. Two restaurant options on location - we ate at Foveran's for dinner but skipped breakfast due to an early morning. Wifi worked well. A bottle of both tap and sparkling water were provided in the rooms, as well as a fully stocked mini bar.
Service at Foveran's was quite poor and left a bad taste in our mouths. The rooms did get quite toasty with no ability to adjust the temperature within the room.
Simply superb. Fantastic execution of renovation of Castle, new build elements and landscaping (hard and soft), and fit outs show a real controlling mind. food excellent, staff great and well trained.

The rain and the restaurant and dining room separated.
The property was absolutely beautiful—from the elegant castle interiors and luxurious rooms to the peaceful grounds and gorgeous scenery. Every detail made it feel special and gave us the true Scottish castle experience we had hoped for. And that black marble bathroom… I could have moved right in! 😂🏰❤️
I didn’t like calling for ice, toilet paper, or just needing to know how to work something and get no answer or when we did no one showed up to bring it.
We very well looked after with all the staff being very toward our needs.
