The breakfast exceeded expectations—waffles, cereal, yogurt, scrambled eggs, breakfast sandwiches, fruit, plus various juices, coffee and tea.
The A/C worked very well, but it had a humming noise to it. Not loud enough to disturb sleep, and if you like white noise, it would probably be perfect for you.
Breakfast was an excellent buffet. The lounge area was very nice. The room was great and the kitchen was very nice. The best way to describe everything is to say this is a Marriott Hotel. Excellence is the Marriott way.
The parking was less than desireable, although it didn't create any major problems, only inconveniences. Considering it is located in the heart of the University of Virginia, parking must be at a premium.
We were able to proceed to early Check-in for free. The staff was very welcoming and nice.
Nothing
Beautiful and great location
Room temp and mattress
Pretty much everything. The pool was awesome, the breakfasts options were great, and the staff were very friendly and accomodating.
Beds were uncomfortably stiff. I woke up with a stiff back both mornings.
Location
Uncomfortable bed
Uncomfortable couch
Shower floor was a hazard
Had to put towel on shower floor for some traction
The Residence Inn has a great location near the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, just a few minutes walk. The room is above average in size and nicely appointed with a small kitchen, sitting area, bedroom area, and bathroom. We used the exercise facility and the swimming pool, both of which are good but not outstanding. The free breakfast in the morning was standard buffet arrangement, very adequate for our needs. A mini mart is available for snacks, frozen microwave meals, and beverages (including alcoholic drinks). All the staff were courteous and helpful. The Inn does not have a bar or dining room.
We ate dinner at a few restaurants that are only a few minutes walk away, in the opposite direction from the Mall. We also enjoyed some drinks at the rooftop at The Doyle for a nice sunset view. Another good location for cocktails is the atrium at the Omni next door. Their room rates are substantially higher than the Residence Inn.
Overall, the Residence Inn by Marriott is highly recommended - an excellent value and great location.
Need to go somewhere else to eat dinner. In terms of what the Inn offers, there were no negative aspects.
Great location
Charging for parking
Close to town centre
Parking in downtown Charlottesville is tight and this hotel is no different. The establishment is clean, tidy, and well-run, perhaps a little to sterile for this seeking anything other than an airport hotel. Rooms are spacious and well-maintained. A buffet breakfast was provided as part of the stay and is mediocre, as is common for this type of arrangement. Likely due to extensive marble and limited soft furnishings, the noise in this area is tremendous - don't go there if you want to talk w/. your guests.
Room was great, facility was clean. Nice parking and entrance
Cost for the room was far too high to provide value. We would have stayed on anther night or two if it wasn't extortionate. The $20/d parking charge is also high considering what we paid for the room. Breakfast was poor. In room coffee was poor.
