We stayed at The Shetland Hotel for six days in May and primarily booked it for accessiblity needs. We could not have chosen better. The room was very clean, the beds extremely conmfortable, the service was excellent and the food was delicious. I chose from the vegetarian menu and the choices were fantastic. Perfectly cooked and not the general run of the mill most establishments offer. Actually I would say it was the best vegetarian food I have ever tasted. The staff- where shall I begin. Abvolutely fantastic, nothing ever too much trouble. I can't remember all of their names but each and everyone were amazing and friendly. The manager, Jane and Valerie, were so lovely and I became very fond of them. They were super helpful, frendly and always ready to chat if we wanted. I am very critical when I need to be but I can say that The Shetlandf Hotel was the best hotel I have ever stayed at factoring the staff, the rooms, the food, the service. If I was to recommend anything I would say an EV car charging point would be a valuable asset. Shetland was very low on EV car charging points and those that were there were not working. Thank you Jane, Valerie and the rest of The Stetland Hotel staff. You are the best! Sarah and David
Breakfast was very good and staff very pleasant.
Evening meal had lots of choice, although I found the food bland.
This hotel was booked by Robertson's Coaches as part of the Shetland Tour holiday they offer. They were superb by the way.
Our experience of the Shetland Hotel was excellent. The Restaurant/Bar team were excellent - so friendly and helpful.
We had breakfasts and evening meals in the hotel, as part of our tour package, and we couldn't fault them. We were facing the main road/ferry terminal and to be honest we weren't inconvenienced by any noise, even though at the time of our visit, there were road works right opposite. Our room was absolutely fine and beautifully clean
Parcheggio gratuito privato.
Stayed here for 6 nights for a mix of work and sightseeing. Do not be put off by the exterior. The hotel is clean and modern with super friendly and helpful staff. Breakfasts and dinners were really tasty. Very easy to walk into central Lerwick
Traditional Scottish hotel, clean and comfortable. Great breakfast
A bit far from the centre of Lerwick and very expensive
What is objectively clear from the food being served in the restaurant, the chef does not give a sh!÷ about life. His or yours.
Rooms ok. Overpriced, run down, out dated and under invested in. But it's Shetland so you are held to ransom.
Every thing was good, please note that I booked this for friends and they advised me that all was good.
Nothing to add
Location of the hotel was good
Hotel and room was substandard and the breakfast was OK, but the hotel itself had a pest (fly) infestation so for all six days we had flies in our room it was pretty bad, 1 of our plug sockets was broke so we had to share 1 plug socket that was also bad. Also had the flies accompanying us at breakfast times, too, so the continental was off limits, and the fruit options were a no go.
The bed is one of the most uncomfortable that we have ever experienced - and we have visited many establishments worldwide! For the price, the whole set up was not good value. We did complain to the receptionist in the morning …. but think it fell on deaf ears! The breakfast was reasonable, but definitely not ‘wow’. The staff were very nice and friendly, but unfortunately we will not be returning to this hotel.
The staff was incredible. Friendly, polite, helpful.
A bit dated and in need of lots of little repairs
Good location, acceptable room, good breakfast.
No elevator, few amenities, nothing special.
Rent og hyggelig personale
Litt slitt og utdatert
Quite dated and run down. Check in is on an upper floor. Elevator did not go to all floors. No security chains on the doors of the rooms. No safes in the room to protect valuables while you are out. Wainscoting and wallpaper peeling off in the hall. They do not service your room, pick up the trash, or bring clean towels unless you specifically call them and ask them to... each day. Towels are set out at check in, so you might as well climb the stairs and go get them yourself. Fire equipment on our floor, a hose, had a large sticker on it that said "Do Not Use." Bathroom door handle fell off one morning and I called to see about getting it fixed. Their response, "Well, can't you get out?" Finally got it fixed. The hotel is directly across the street from the ferry terminal. Breakfast is fine. Dinner...take your chances. We ate a lot of scones from local bakeries. The pictures attached were all taken outside our room.
