Convenient and gradually being modernised
Very warm bedroom
We liked the general ambiance and the history of the hotel
Lack of air conditioning and noisy kitchen extractor fan
Best part of our stay were the staff, the gentleman on reception gave us another room as the one we had was unbearably hot we couldn’t stay there but with no hesitation gave us another room. Dinner in the evening was very good.
Not the property itself but breakfast in the morning was not that good mainly the fried eggs were like rubber should have complained but didn’t would not have breakfast there again.
Room was comfortable with a bath.
Nothing really.
Location
Staff, bed, location.
View from my room, noise from room & fire doors.
Quiet friendly atmosphere
Lumpy mattress which caused roll-together.
Location and parking
Firm bed and no Air conditioning
Good clean and modern room & bathroom. Great free car parking.
Excellent breakfast.
Welcoming and friendly staff.
"Lose" the elephant in the garden.
Rooms very hot, no air conditioning but exceptional heat wave in southern UK.
Would be useful to have clothes hook on bathroom.
Elephant in garden - horrible.
spacious room and bathroom good selection toiletries
Toilet seat old and scruffy. Room was very warm and the one fan was not very effective
The location
Instant coffee for breakfast. Who provides Instant Coffee these days especially in a hotel if this calibre?
The comfort of the room and the helpfulness of the staff. The hotel setting was lovely compared to the corporate feel of some other hotels.
It would have been nice to have a wider selection of gluten and dairy free breakfast options readily available on the menu.
I have stayed at The Orwell Hotel many times over the past 20 years or so. This was the first time under the new management. We were a little surprised to see an elephant near the car park, but it seemed well behaved. Check in was smooth and our room was very well decorated and clean. Bathroom was very well decorated but the position of the toilet was a little cramped. We only ate breakfast there as we were meeting a relative during the day and evening. Breakfast was sufficient for us as we only wanted corn flakes, tea and coffee. My wife said that her coffee was good, as was my tea.
There was nothing we did not like.
It's clean, comfortable, friendly and good value for money.
