Friendly hotel
Pros:

Good location.
Friendly staff.
Good variation of menu for daytime/evening dining.

Cons:

Single rooms very small with single bed.
Cooked breakfast limited. If you don’t like eggs benedict or fry up then you are out of luck. Would like to have seen porridge and other options.

Hotel is poor but the breakfast was good.
Pros:

Location. And the breakfast was good.

Cons:

It’s very tired and seriously needs some tlc. The mattress was awful. Room was finished very poorly, especially the bathroom. Whole floor is lumpy which is very strange. It is way too expensive for what is offered and I cannot believe it is a 4 star! That must have been awarded in the 70s.

Pros:

Good location on the seafront.. thought we were ok as its a 4 star hotel... never a 4* hotel

Cons:

The Bedroom... overlooked the street which was fine, but there is an extractor fan that was extremely noisy and pumping out the smell of greasy fat... I have a video, but it won't allow me to post it
the Bathroom... toilet handle needed to be pumped about 10 times before it flushed, the shower door handle was broken, the shower door wouldn't close properly, so water ended up all over the floor, the rubber pads that you stand on were stained with dirt, the shower hose was broken.

Making memories while I still can
Pros:

Arrived for a 3 night stay with my 92 yr old Mother. Requested an accessible double room for her due to mobility issues along with good sea views. Both her and my rooms' were excellent. Comfortable beds, spotlessly clean, soft fluffy towels, basic toiletries in the bathroom, tea/coffee facilities in each room; hair drier, iron in one room, fans in both rooms.
There are accessibility issues as the hotel is an old building that had gone through many restorations; so some areas are harder to access due to oldly placed steps and lay outs.
Breakfasts were generously portioned, with a good selection including full english plus a vegan equivelent option; various egg options, kippers; plus cereals and porridge, fruits, yogurts, pastries, unlimited tea, coffee and fruit juices.
The restaurant offers a good selection of meals at competitive prices. The fish and chips were excellent on our 1st night. The bar also offers snacks, sandwich and meal options.
In celebration of a birthday, we had a 'sparkling afternoon tea'. With dietary requirements notified in advance; both my Mother and I had a wonderful spread of food provided. (Plus take out boxes for the items we could not finish as the tea was so generous). We also shared the cakes with other guests seated near us in the 'library' as neither my Mother or I would have been able to eat that many cakes. The cream tea scones were fabulous! The chef had prepared a savoury option for me due to my not eating meat products and it was absolutely delicious!
My only critisism of the hotel is that the bar prices are a little 'spiteful'. However, with the location, the levels of service from the staff and the quality of the food and drinks provided; I absolutely would recommend this hotel and I am sure I will be back for another visit soon

Beware of the booking system.
Pros:

Hotel was on seafront but we were placed in an annex the other side of the road behind the hotel. The booking made by phone was for a sea view but on arrival it turned out instead to be a car park view.
The annex was really just a corridor. It was clean.
The essential framework was fine but unfortunately an ongoing damp problem in the bathroom led to a mould/rot problem. The only visible sign of mould was on a small piece of skirting adjacent to the bath, You needed to keep the air extract on to stop the smell pervading the whole bedroom.
Ventilation was one small window 9ft up and there was no air con.
No info in room or on screen.
Staff appeared to be well trained and were efficient. There were no stff in the annex.
Wifi was OK but the tv was very slow.
The main building appeared to be showing its age. The annex was quiet and the rooms were of a good size and decor was good.
Booking was made by phone because the app did not work.

Perfect location in a clean, comfy hotel with amazing attentive staff.
Pros:

Breakfast was good. Excellent choice with excellent staff service.

Cons:

There was a function in the hotel that we were not told about. This meant we couldn’t eat in the hotel bar & were moved to a tiny cold room to eat our meal.
