The location was excellent. It was about a 15 minute walk into the town centre, so we were able to go exploring the afternoon we arrived. We were staying there the night before a cruise. It was about a 10 minute drive to the cruise terminal.
Unfortunately, we stayed on the hottest night of the year, so didn't get much sleep, but this isn't the fault of the hotel. They did provide a fan in the room.
Off road parking.
Spacious room and bathroom.

Clean, Friendly staff
The drawback for me was as we were going on a cruise I think a late checkout ought to be an option as we had to be out of the room by 10.30am and as our boarding time was early afternoon and there is nowhere in the hotel to chill out so we were sat in the car for a few hours
Think they should consider introducing something
It was close to the ferry terminal and there was onsite parking. I see the suggestion of writing 2-3 sentences but I'm really struggling here. Other than that, it wasn't a great stay.
The room had a funky smell to it, like an old dated smell. The floors creaked loudly and the bed was so squeaky and uncomfortable, it was a really bad nights sleep. The room wasn't as advertised either as we specifically clicked on a room with a bath in the description. When we questioned it, we were told there was no rooms left and they'd given us an upgrade.......I dread to think what the original room would've been like but I didn't feel like I'd been upgraded.
At breakfast, we arrived on time, as we'd been advised to arrive. The hotel knowing we had a baby with us, put us right by the central table so everyone banged in to us as they went to help themselves to the cereals and juices. We asked if we could have one of the tables out of the way and were told we couldn't as they were reserved for other guests. Imagine putting a couple with a baby right in the way of everyone, we felt like a massive inconvenience and that we hadn't been properly catered for. The staff congregated in the corner, by the toaster, for a gossip and made us feel like we were unreasonable for not being happy with the situation. I don't think anyone enjoys being banged in to and I think it was very poor to try and make us feel uncomfortable.
Our opinion of the staff was cemented when we both highlighted that our sausages were still raw in the middle and there was no apology or surprise that this was the case. Just an "Oh, thanks for letting us know" we knew it wasn't worth complaining further, it was meant to be an enjoyable experience......and it wasn't.
The property is nowhere near the description and I feel really disappointed, it was a terrible start to our cruise.
As I was not in the main part of the hotel I was having a few issues with the Internet,.maybe a booster could be useful as I kept losing connection.

The room was lovely and large. The bathroom was good and we enjoyed the shower and bath. The staff were good and responded to any of our needs such as answering questions on parking and how to get into Southampton city centre. The position of the hotel to town was very good.
The very steep stairs to the room. Room was incredibly hot as we were having a heat wave. A fan was provided but noone had thought to close the curtains or open the windows. The english breakfast did not seem very generous although there were plenty of alternatives. The hotel felt expensive compared to others we have stayed at.
We use Elizabeth House fairly frequently and always find the staff friendly and helpful.
This time we decided to have dinner in the restaurant - the Steak pie is out of this world. I have never had such a pie with crispy pastry, steak that literally melts on your fork and had a lovely gravy type sauce.
Only a few little things - firstly I asked reception if they had some extra pillows as my partner hurt his back, but I was told that the hotel had no spare pillows! That was the weirdest sentence I have ever had from a hotel.
Secondly, one morning during our stay we went for breakfast, had our juice and then waited for tea/coffee. This took a long time to be asked.
We then waited longer for breakfast options, and we watched as 3 other tables were ordered before us, despite arriving after us. Plus it took us a long time for our food to arrive.
However, this is a rare happening.
I arrived tired no food was available and I wasnt expecting stairs please bare this in mind
