Pros:

There is nothing to like about this hotel, other than perhaps, the lakeside location and views
Nothing about this hotel will ever convince me to stay there again. Old,dated rooms, shower wasn't at all clean and the shower seat(it was a disabled access room) wasn't fit for purpose, broken and unusable, so my disabled partner had difficulty taking a shower. The room itself was located on the second floor, and,on our visit, the lift broke down,a couple of hours after we arrive, trapping us in the room(the duty manager told us to use the stairs, obviously disregarding my partner's crutches, and our explanation that using the stairs would be impossible for her,if not exceptionally dangerous too) We had to have a limited choice of food sent to the room, which arrived tepid and of mediocre quality (pre battered frozen fish, soggy chips and a very watery mushy peas, with two bottles of mineral water (unchilled- had to ask for ice,and twice for glasses to drink it from- abysmal level of service, on all counts) We were left with little choice but to eat the food, having paid £39.40 for it,as we were starving by that point. Any complaints to the duty manager, a guy called Jason, were met with a completely blank expression, barely an apology and not even an attempt to rectify the situation or offer any form of discount or partial refund, sadly. Given that the night there was booked as the beginning of our 3rd anniversary celebrations, coupled with attending a birthday lunch the following day, I feel completely let down and disgusted by the entire situation. We couldn't even have left, and eaten elsewhere, as my partner couldn't even attempt the 19 step staircase, just to the next floor down, nor could we have used any hotel facilities or even walked around the picturesque lakeside location. The lift was eventually repaired, in the early hours of the morning, so we could go down for breakfast.

Cons:

See above comments for all that wasn't likeable about this awful hotel.

Ok but needs a refresh
Pros:

Location was helpful. Staff were friendly. Room size was good - not cramped.

Cons:

Sliding door to lake couldn’t lock properly and could be opened from outside. Bathroom looked antiquated but clean. Didn’t feel safe to stay.
Overall the building looked tired.

Pros:

The staff were amazing. Polite and friendly.

Cons:

The whole place is tired. We've stopped here on numerous occasions and it was always a little dated but that has become prehistoric. We ate in and I send congratulations to the microwave. If the food was actually cooked by a person, please get them to try it. Undercooked chips, overcooked peas and sweetcorn and I'm not sure what had happened to the ribs.
It's such a shame as we loved this place. The rooms need updating and for anyone that is expecting the rooms to be clean, don't look too hard.

Overall, our stay at Inn on the Lake was extremely disappointing. While the hotel is dog friendly and the room initially
Pros:

The hotel is dog friendly, which is great for people travelling with pets.
The room appeared clean on arrival.
Breakfast on the second morning was slightly better than the first.
The location and grounds have potential, but unfortunately the hotel does not seem to be maintaining standards.

Cons:

The hotel is very dated and in need of refurbishment.
Our room smelt strongly of mould/damp, likely due to the bathroom extractor fan not working.
The room was far too hot and the ceiling fan was noisy but ineffective.
The double bed was extremely small and the towels were paper thin.
The shower temperature was dangerously hot and actually scalded me. Even after my husband tried adjusting it, the water was still too hot.
Breakfast on the first morning was very poor and cold food, chaotic service, and not enough staff for how busy the hotel was.
We waited nearly an hour for scrambled eggs, which were awful when they arrived.
The bread left out for guests to make toast was still frozen.
The orange juice machine produced very poor quality juice.
The lift was out of order twice during our stay.
Although the hotel is dog friendly, cleaning throughout the day was lacking. There was dog hair around dining areas and water bowls left in walkways where guests were getting food.
On the second evening, a patio chair leg snapped while being used, causing an injury. This raised concerns about safety checks and maintenance.
After reporting the incident, an accident form was completed but staff showed very little concern beyond handing us a slip of paper for complaints.
At checkout we were not even asked how our stay had been, despite staff knowing about the accident.

Overall, we genuinely considered leaving after the first night and would not recommend the hotel or return ourselves.
