I got charged for a full stay I paid through booking.com and still have received no refund.
The lazy pool is fantastic and a great place to relax. The hotel also features an excellent Sports Bar, which was perfect for enjoying the World Cup, as well as a lovely Wine Bar for a more refined experience.
The gym is great! The pool is amazing but always overcrowded due to the hotel allowing walk ins considered over hotel guests.
The staff at Walker str were incredibe, esp Tammy and Gwendoleme. Staff at the hotel, are short and rude and need to be taught to deal with clientele properly. I asked everyday for our room to be serviced. Only to get serviced on the 3rd day of our stay.
The property is beautiful, well maintained, and conveniently located in downtown Houston. We really enjoyed the pool and lazy river during our honeymoon. Because of the FIFA events, the restaurants were extremely busy and service was slower than usual, but Tate provided outstanding customer service(Sunday -July 5th) and was one of the highlights of our stay.
We prepaid our stay through Booking.com, but at checkout we were incorrectly charged additional fees that required multiple phone calls after we returned home to resolve. We were also assigned a room that did not match the Executive Corner King Pool View we reserved, and housekeeping did not respond promptly when we requested fresh towels and trash pickup. While the hotel ultimately corrected the billing and issued a refund, I was disappointed that I had to initiate the follow-up instead of the issue being resolved before checkout.
Summary:
Beautiful property with excellent amenities, but the billing and service issues at the end of our honeymoon kept the experience from being exceptional. At checkout, I tried to explain that our stay had already been prepaid through Booking.com, but the front desk associate would not let me show my confirmation or fully explain the situation. After returning home, I had to call 3–4 times before I was able to speak with management, and one promised callback never happened. While management ultimately corrected the billing and issued a refund, the resolution took much more effort than it should have.
Pool was super fun, food service awesome, room comfy, nice view, customer service was great.
First time there celebrating my son’s birthday. The pool are was awesome and the reason why we went. The check out process took about 30 min bc there was a discrepancy on my final charges. The manager was polite and fixed it and the lady at the front was also very sweet and said polite. The issue is that I kept getting emails that night up until midnight that my card kept declining for an outrageous amount (mind you I paid for both my rooms on booking.com.) The amount trying to be charged was for the room! I was very annoyed and frustrated at this point. I was planning on taking my family there again but after that issue I probably won’t be back.
It was a good experience overall. The room was clean and spacious. There were plenty of outlets and the lighting in the room was good as well. The beds were very comfortable and I slept well in them. The shower works well and there is both plenty of pressure and hot water. The AC works very well as July gets very hot in Houston. We were on the 14th floor and there was some street noise due to World Cup and the Astros game that night. But it wasn't horrible. The facilities are great and the pool area is very fun. The lazy river is fun but it gets very packed on Saturdays. We used a late checkout to use it on Sunday and the crowds were 60% lighter. The food takes forever at the pool bar on Saturday so keep that in mind. It took about 40 minutes for a ceviche. The downstairs bar is great with good service and great drinks. A bit expensive but high quality. It is a less than 10 minute walk to Minute Maid Park which is great. The hotel was very busy due to World Cup but I think most other summer weekends probably aren't as bad.
We have Bonvoy elite so we checked in rather quickly. If not, then the check in line is rather long. The self park can be a bit confusing and is rather expensive. But it is cheaper than valet and it is an easy walk to the hotel from the parking garage. Overall I liked this hotel.
Pool and big screens there to watch the football. Reception was also exceptionally helpful.
