A small boutique hotel directly overlooking the Old Venetian Harbor. Even before our stay, the hotel graciously extended the free cancellation date since our plans were a bit in a flux. Our stay was wonderful, every morning opening the blinds of the Honeymoon Suite to the empty promenade and serene waters of the harbor and the Lighthouse of Chania, and eventually seeing it populate lively throughout the day into the night. The hotel did a beautiful job decorating a fine architectural gem. The front desk was very helpful with booking restaurants and planning out activities. The breakfast was really, really delicious, with high quality ingredients. There were different juices and smoothies every morning, accompanied by various baked goods, and a la carte option for the main dish. The hotel provided us with a bag with beach towels for the day we drove out to Elafonissi Beach. The only inconvenience is the parking, since we rented a car in Heraklion and brought it to Chania to use for the remainder of the trip. There is a nearby paid parking lot, about a 5-10 min walk and the hotel will help you with the bags. The problem was with the city's parking regulations, which change constantly. When we were there, the active regulation prohibited two consecutive days of parking in any of city lots, so we had to take a chance on a parking ticket if we didn't want to constantly move the car. We felt that it was still a worthwhile stay, since most of the harbor has no car access (but also what gives it its charm), so most of the hotels in the area will have the same issue. We didn't look into it but you could probably just rent a car for a day trip and not have to deal with the multi-day parking like we did. Just do your research and proactively ask the hotel for any guidance.
I wish I could write something original but I can only endorse what the other reviewers have said. The location, service, accommodation, decor, and staff could not be bettered. The breakfasts were exceptional, you certainly won't need to buy lunch, and the Greek coffee was a must. Also highly recommended is the attached Zephos restaurant, which is situated at the front of the hotel directly on the harbourside. The quality of the food and the service was so good that we ended up eating there practically every night. Also, a shout-out to Litsa, the owner of this and other linked hotels. She couldn't have been frendlier and, it must be noted, seemed to be permanently on-station in the restaurant to ensure that everything worked like clockwork. Finally, if you do go, ask to see the album documenting the restoration of the hotel from an absolute wreck to the first-class establishment it is now.
We had the pleasure of staying in the Honeymoon Suite with internal balcony and sea view. The room is truly unique, full of charm, and offers a superb view of the sea. The lighting system is interesting and allows for different atmospheres, which we really enjoyed. The shower cabin is spectacular, the bed is very comfortable, and the small mezzanine offers a beautiful plunging view over the sea. The bathroom also has a double sink, which is very convenient.
The air conditioning is quite well designed, with three outlets: one in the ceiling above the mezzanine and two more standard wall-mounted units. The terrace is also lovely for breakfast, and the hotel’s location is perfect, right in the heart of Chania.
Wonderful boutique hotel with superb views. The beds are super comfy and the staff could not be more helpful and generous! The breakfast is delicious and the views of the harbour are superb. Our room also had amazing high Venetian ceilings- beautiful. Highly recommend!
