Very friendly welcome and comfortable room. Good service and food.
Perfekt beliggenhed
Rengøringen haltede
Cosy family run hotel with excellent food and good beer. Close to the Hadrians Wall experience.
The room was very small.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent meal.
Strange surges of hot and cold water in the shower.
Only a few minutes from Hadrin's Wall. We had the family room and it was perfect for 3 adults.
Dinner and breakfast were great. Would stay any time again. Very friendly staff.
No complains at all.
Alll seemed a bit grubby. Breakfast was pretty minimal. Everything seemed like cost cutting going on. Staff were a bit casual and not overly helpful. Room looked good in pictures but needed more TLC.

Wszystko zgodnie z opisem. Na szlaku wału Hadriana. Pokój 4 osobowy z łóżkiem piętrowym więc było trochę mało miejsca ale łazienka czysta. Jedzenie bardzo smaczne
The room was spacious and bed comfy. Very quiet place. Only choice to eat was at the hotel in the evening. Really wonderfully cooked fish and chips .Cooked breakfast excellent and very good poached eggs. Liked the homemade granola and the spreads great. Very attentive staff
I thought the prices for food were a little steep as there was also a service charge added on top which was cheeky.
The breakfast was amazing! Gluten free full Northumbrian, scrambled eggs were perfect! Also a decent selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt teas and filter coffee.
Dinner was amazing too, choice of bar or dining area for food in the evening.
Excellent location for Wall walkers, or anyone after a fairly rural escape!
Housekeeping go go up a notch - nothing serious just little bits that obviously hadn't been done for a while. The mattress wasn't the best, but we had a great sleep so it can't have been too bad (bedding was immaculate!)
I think the staff that were in could all be new and finding their feet, so it didn't feel like an operation running like a well-oiled machine, but all the best to them! Friendly, pleasant, I wish them all the best!
The location on Hadrian's Wall is great. It's a lovely pretty village.
The room was ok. A little dated, but the bed was comfortable and the shower hot. If only the place didn't have a beer garden,or bar, or staff to let it down....
Dinner was ok. Average. There is no ambience in the bar with bright lighting, dance music and plastic flowerpots on the table.
Starter plates were not cleared away when mains brought, so they stayed on the table.
The table next to us ordered a filter coffee. It took 20 mins. There were 6 customers.
We didn't have pudding.
.
The main problem was when we were shown to breakfast in the bar the next morning ( as we had a dog, no problem that we couldn't sit in the restaurant) however, no cleaning had been done from the night before.
At all. None.
The tables were dirty, there was dirty napkins on tables and the floor, dirty glasses on the dirty bar, one table, which the staff member ( possible owner? ) sat at playing on his phone during breakfast service was filthy, used napkins, drink stains and food all over the floor.
A child's bouncy ball in the middle of the dirty carpet.
A piece of paper which had been on the floor of the bar the night before was still there.
Note: Outside the beer terrace and garden were strewn with litter, there are plastic flowers shoved in dilapidated window boxes, one of which gave up the ghost at one point and lays rotten and broken on the floor, it's contents upended and spilled. The only real plants, possibly dahlias before they died now stand sentry at the door of the pub
brown, crispy and dead as a dodo.
When I told the staff member at Check Out I wanted the 10% service charge ( that we had been told would be on our food bill ) removing, he didn't even ask why.
So I explained- I have never, ever, been seated at breakfast in such a dirty space, he was completely unaccountable, implying that he was on his own for the breakfast shift, I asked why he, and the waitress who was working with him the night before had not cleaned up at the end of the night, his response, I'll talk to her about that!
I told him he should be cleaning, not sitting on his phone watching tiktok. His excuse?
