DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL. Travellers beware. The website is a complete fraud. The rooms were dirty, the bedspreads stained and torn, the bathroom rusted, broken and moldy with no amenities, electrical wires hanging in the bathroom, a broken fall-out-of-the-wall rusted safe, scurrying critter in the night, lock on door not fully functional, employees sleeping in lobby, terrible food and poor service. And to top it off this morning we were awoken just after 5 am by a man with a key trying to break into our room - 3 times!! Not clean, not safe, not comfortable. The website is a complete lie and the experience was beyond terrible .
We don‘t recommend this hotel. First of all smoking is allowed. Our neighbours smoked, so the entire floor reeked of it. Some of our rommes didn‘t have any accessible plugs to charge our phones (they were behind the tv or bed). The hotel staff does not speak english very well (some do not speak it at all), which in our case meant that in the restaurant we weren‘t able to communicate that we wanted the menu. And they didn‘t give it to us on their own, even though we were seated at tge table. There was no english menu, so our tour guide had to stay longer ob duty and had translate it for us, because even google translator wasn‘t able to translate whatever was written on there. The entire design of this hotel is really old-looking (think a 70s style shower). However, the rooms were clean and the Wifi worked really well.
This hotel was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The wi-fi was not working or the TV. The Air conditioning didn't work. They advertised that they accepted Visa and Mastercard but I wound up having to go to an ATM to pay my bill. Customer service was lacking. No apology offered for the inconvenience.
Very noisy! Sleep was constantly disturbed by outside traffic noise and by noisy guests on the same floor who were opening and closing doors loudly all night and talking in the corridors. As there’s virtually no soundproofing you could hear every sound around. The manager kept promising to move me to a room on the other side of the hotel where at least there would be less noise from outside, but instead he moved me into a room adjacent to the one I already had, which was really no better. The bathroom smelt strongly of urine and had no ventilation and the tv in the room wasn’t functional.
Still, it was cheap at $20 per night.
Unfortunately this hotel was very dirty. A/C not working in first room we were given. Restaurant had a huge menu but only several meals available.
Jedzenie dobre. Obsługa bardzo miła. Tylko ci nieproszeni goście w pokoju (mam na myśli karaluchy) i stan armatury w łazience. Dałbym ocenę bdb.
We got in late but the rooms were spacious and clean. We had no towel, but there was decent internet. There was good water pressure for the shower, but it was moldy in the shower. The bed was clean and the staff was friendly.
The room was average. It was fairly clean. It was the only place in Arusha area we didn't use the mosquito net because the net seemed very dusty. The breakfast was average with made to order eggs. The bathroom shower was warm but it did not drain so the whole bathroom floor was wet. One towel was provided in the room. The staff was very friendly and helped with bags and booking a ride for dinner.
We were booked on a midrange tour and all the other hotels on the tour were wonderful. This was the one let down. It felt like a budget hotel with an old though clean bathroom. Breakfast was cold spaghetti or some fruit. A totally budget experience stay here only if you are paying a budget price. On a positive note it's all very clean. Just old and not mid range for sure.
This hotel is the best place I have stayed in Arusha, especially for the price. I have stayed at more expensive hotels without much to gain (and sometimes worse). Both times, my rooms were clean and comfortable. The pizza was great. Breakfast is a little weak but the fruit is good- they also pack a boxed breakfast in case you depart before 7am. Beds don't have mosquito nets but the rooms seem fairly sealed- I did not get any bites overnight and slept comfortably. The rooms are also equipped with air conditioning. Parking outside is not gated but a guard is out there at all times.
This hotel is ok, it's cheaper than others in Arusha so you get what you pay for. It's definitely clean. The wifi barely works, often not at all - I'm glad I bought a data sim. The restaurant is terrible, the menu has very few options, especially for a vegetarian, and the breakfast is unappealing. I've had one hot shower, the rest have been lukewarm. But service is good. Depends how fussy you are. It does the job - somewhere cheap enough and clean to stay.
Hiss saknades. Duschdörrar trasiga vilket föranledde vatten på hela badrumsgolvet. Aircondition OK. Läge ej helt nära centrum men lugnt. Wi-fi gick ej på rummet. Receptionspersonalen var dåligt informerad, hade svårt för engelska och svarade fel på ekonomiska frågor. Sängarna sköna och myggnät fanns. TV med bara swahiliprogram.
I even got a complimentary price on new year day. The hotel is just opposite the road and easy accessible with superb rooms and accommodation at its best. would kindly recommend this hotel to any mid budgeted traveller to Arusha.
Don't forget its cleanliness, the hotel is very very clean!
The staff in Gracelands are really welcoming and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. I had a large room overlooking the school and the room was spotlessly clean. I was woken by the school drums at 7.30
every morning, but that was quite nice.
The dining room let the hotel down. There was a very limited menu in the evening and the breakfast was not at all good. I ended up buying breakfast elsewhere.
It's quiet, safe and friendly, as a female on her own, I would stay there again.
Graceland is a medium hotel with satsfaction. Welcome smiling faces always at reciption. All about bed, shower as well as breakfast. The location is very close to other community services espacial for up country travellers as bus stand is very close.
I came to Arusha last week and stayed in until this time of the night. Checking out on 18th May 2016.
Graceland is an attractive four storey building adjacent to the grounds of a Government school and with a beautiful view of Mt. Meru. It is 40 minutes walk from the central Arusha clocktower. Rooms are spacious, clean and air-conditioned. Plumbing, Wifi, hot water etc. can suffer from the not infrequent small power outages but staff are very willing to attend to any problems. Room price includes a tasty cooked African/ Western breakfast. Manager, Gorge, makes every effort to meet requests eg. Organizing budget safaris tailored to your interests and price range.
Business hotels, for me, are all about bed, shower and breakfast. Graceland has a great bed w several pillows -- just as I liked. The bathroom was ok -- the shower was kind of difficult to manage. And the breakfast was ok too. People there were excellent!
Good hotel for a nights stay before or after your safari. Couldn't complain at anything, the restaurant was really nice and the staff were really helpful when we got a bit stuck! Great for organising our airport transfer to kilimanjaro airport!
myself and my friend stayed here for one night. we arrived about 22:00 and left about 09:oo the next morning. no problem checking. room was good big plenty of space clean comfortable bed. bathroom fine, only cold water. there was meant to be WI FI but it did nt work in the room just the reception area. great breakfast toast choice of eggs lovely fruit tea coffee. overall fine, some staff really friendly some as if we were an inconvenience to them.
