Great stay at The Tribune
Pros:

The staff were absolutely wonderful — friendly, welcoming, and very efficient. The room was spotless and well maintained, and the breakfast buffet offered a great selection of fresh, delicious options.

The Tribune was a 15-20 minute walk or ride to all sights, very well located for what we wanted to do and see.

Room 202 was quite small — a tight fit for my 6'4" husband. We would have appreciated a bit more coffee, sugar, and cream in the room, as well as an iron and ironing board being standard amenities (although one was delivered promptly when we requested it, so no inconvenience there).

The pillows were quite flat and firm, and the bed itself was firmer than expected. There was also a noticeable ridge where the two mattresses met in the middle, it was not one seamless mattress. This was a bit surprising, as we’ve consistently found beds at Hyatt properties to be especially comfortable.

Absolutely go to Ristorante Il Fellini, just 4 blocks away...nice atmosphere, the pork shank is truly amazing as were all the other entrees, and the staff provided excellent service and was very friendly.

We would absolutely return to the Tribune.

Nearly Perfect hotel with Kind Staff
Pros:

The Tribune served as my home base in Rome over a 2-week period. I stayed here for a total of 5 nights, checking in and out 3 times while traveling to other parts of Europe. I am grateful to the hotel for storing my luggage during my travels elsewhere. Each time I returned, the hotel had my luggage ready for delivery to my room. During my third stay, there was a mix-up and the wrong luggages were delivered to my room. After a call to the front desk, the issue was quickly resolved and I was reunited with my luggage.

Pros: fantastic location, kind & courteous staff; lovely breakfast, with the option to choose from the a la carte menu in addition to the buffet; I smiled every time I saw the “Tribune” artwork on top of my morning cappuccino; the rooms are comfortable and Hyatt globalists are rewarded with upgrades when available. I got upgraded for 2 of my 3 stays. Plus, the in-room mini bar had a very nice selection of complimentary beverages.

Cons: extremely slow and small elevator; other than when I had my luggage, I used the stairs during the entirety of my stays but this could be problematic for people with mobility issues; the hotel had environmentally-friendly full size containers of body wash/shampoo/conditioner, but there was always at least one container with a faulty pump; during my first stay, the body wash in the shower was really watered down and sprayed out of the bottle like Windex (felt like it had been diluted with mostly water), which made me feel icky and I ended up using the hand soap from the sink instead of the body wash; during my other stays, the pump on the lotion containers fell off; also, I asked for an iron and ironing board, and a dirty iron with leftover water was delivered. I ended up not using it because I didn’t want my clothes to get stained from the dirty iron, which has happened to me before from dirty hotel irons.

Note for light sleepers: rooms facing Via Campania will get noise from Corso d’Italia at all hours, so request a room facing the back if you want peace & quiet.

Do take advantage of the hotel’s proximity to Villa Borghese and walk through this beautiful park during early morning/evening hours. You’ll see locals walking their dogs and experience serenity in the midst of enchanting Rome.

Hotel reception can make or break your holiday
Pros:

Receptionist was not cooperative nor by all means helpful. We arrived early in the morning at 9 and we requested an early check even with a charge which she refused claiming that the hotel was completely sold out and that the earliest she can provide us with a room was 4 hours ater. Numerous guests were checking out right infront of us and as far as I understand cleaning 1 room doesn't take 4 hours by all means. We had 2 rooms booked and requested at least 1 to be ready. I also clearly said that I would be paying for the rooms in cash and she still wanted to block half the total charge on the credit card for no obvious reason. I cannot understand why a receptionist who is meant to be hospitable and helpful would act in such a dismissive manner and attitude and not try to help at all.

never again
Pros:

hotel staff is wonderful but, the rooms are small and dark. Not what we would call a 4 or 5 star hotel. Had to have the front desk bring up lighting from the lobby. Asked for a second chair so we cold both sit at the small table but it never appeared.

Most disappointing stay
Pros:

As a globalist, I have stayed in my fair share of Hyatts and usually I am very happy. However, this was one of our most disappointing stays.

Room: Tiny room
- We paid an exorbitant amount of points (and cash) to secure the "king suite deluxe," which I was told was their highest suite level. To our surprise, it was just a regular room with 2 rollaway beds placed in a small room with our bed. Once we opened our suitcases, there was no room to walk in. That's how small this premium suite was. I almost called the front desk to make sure there was not a mistake, but didn't want to make a fuss. I understand small hotel rooms in big cities, but if we were actually placed in the correct room, the pictures and descriptions were very misleading.

Foul smell:
- Around day 2, we noticed the bathroom area always smelled bad. Even when we're gone for a whole day and come back to the bathroom, the smell was still there. It was a very distinct pipe leak type of smell. We told the front desk and they said they'll look into it. Maybe it was because we brought it up very politely (and didn't make a big deal out of it), but nothing was done. There was no apologies or compensation or any small things given. We didn't ask, but it would have been a nice gesture for this type of convenience.

Lost one of our items:
- Earlier in our trip, my kids and I took a wonderful venetian mask class and made some masks. We were very excited to bring them home. It was in a brown paper bag in our room... and sometime during our stay, it was thrown away. I've never been in a hotel room where the cleaning staff would just assume a bag in a room (not in the trash can) is trash and throw it out. I understands it happens, but it was disappointing and definitely soured our trip. Our kids still talk about how they wish they had their masks. To their credit, the front desk attendant did try hard to find the bag afterwards and looked in different places in the hotel upon our request. This I will give them credit for. But otherwise, it was kind of just shrugged off.

I'm never the type to ask a hotel for points or money back after a bad stay, but this was one where I was tempted to. Just wanted to post an honest review so people are aware.

Hyatt Globalist Great Stay at The Tribune in May 2026
Pros:

I'm a Globalist and expect good service and nice room. Room was fabulous, large, spacious and clean. Rooftop bar and restaurant is great as well but I cannot speak to food as we didn't get the opportunity to dine there. Our room was on upper floor (Floor 6) so noise with the exception of Rome sirens was not an issue. No noise from hallway or adjoining rooms. Location is walkable to Borghese Gardens and an easy walk to the Spanish Steps and shopping. We really walked everywhere to EBike Tour, Cooking class, etc... but we are walkers. Cab cost to and from hotel is a set $55 so not outrageous since hard to get out of the city via car and takes 40/45 min without traffic. We asked front desk to have us a cab at a certain time for airport departure and he was there a few minutes early. Service was outstanding. Make sure and ask front desk if you want your room cooler as they control the AC. It wasn't a problem and room was cool. I learned this from my previous stay. Breakfast and service was good as well.

Great Hotel Far from the action
Pros:

we chose this hotel due to our membership with Hyatt. We stayed here the last two nights of our 12 day Italy trip, and it was the fifth stop on our tour. It was the perfect place to relax and see the city. It’s a little far from the main sites so unless you’re willing to walk at least 45 minutes or spend the $22 on a cab ride, it really was a lovely hotel to stay at. The staff was amazing and very helpful and of it was close to some great restaurants in a lovely neighborhood, away from the hustle bustle.

Perfect Stay for the End of Our Rome Trip
Pros:

I had a wonderful stay at The Tribune Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff at the front desk were incredibly kind and welcoming. The check-in experience was smooth, and they were always happy to help throughout our stay.

The room was quiet, comfortable, and had a very pleasant scent, which made it especially relaxing after long days of sightseeing. The breakfast was delicious with a great variety of options, and every aspect of the hotel experience felt thoughtful and high quality.

We also really enjoyed the rooftop atmosphere. The staff kindly helped us call taxis whenever needed and gave excellent recommendations for nearby attractions and places to visit. The location was another huge advantage — it was very convenient for accessing parks, shopping areas, and major tourist sites.

Overall, The Tribune Hotel was the perfect place to rest and recharge during the final part of our trip. We truly enjoyed every part of our stay and would gladly recommend this hotel to others visiting Rome.

Great location if traveling with children!
Pros:

We had a very pleasant stay at the Tribune as first time visitors to Rome. It is currently the only Hyatt brand hotel available in the city with a few others under construction and coming soon. It is walking distance to Villa Borghese, the main park in Rome. This was a great perk if you are traveling with young children because of all the open space and also a small playground right at the entrance.

Other main attractions are a short taxi ride away. The neighborhood is otherwise quiet and residential. There are a few grocery stores and several decent restaurants down the street.

The hotel has a nice small boutique vibe. The breakfast buffet is on the first floor and there is a bar/restaurant on the rooftop for lunch and dinner. All the staff were very nice and helpful. My only complaint is that the AC wasn’t working fully and could be stronger.

Visit in Rome
Pros:

The Tribune is in a centrally located area. All employees spoke English. They were all polite and professional. The hotel is in itself very safe and also in a safe neighborhood. Definitely recommend The Tribune for anyone visiting Rome for the first time.

A beautifully equipped hotel
Pros:

The Tribune is nicely located close to the arches of the city wall as depicted in the film ‘La Dolce Vita’ - indeed we even took coffee in the original Harry’s Bar close to the arches.

However for trips to the Vatican City and Ancient Rome around the Colosseum it’s quite a hike unless you use public transport.

There’s so much to see and do in the Italian capital and our three day visit was totally full-on. However we were able to relax and recover at The Tribune in our comfortable room; although being at the back of the hotel our view was non-existent whilst I understand a front facing room is so much better. A word about the rooftop terrace restaurant - expensive but really worth while (ok that’s five words!)

Very recommended.

Tribune Hotel a lovely hotel in a beautiful area of Roma
Pros:

Chosen for its proximity to the Borghese gardens our 3 night stay at the Tribune Hotel far exceeded our expectations. Simona Giannatiempo’s welcome greeting at reception set the tone of our visit. Our room was super clean, with a view overlooking the Borghese gardens & perfectly suited us, room service excellent & breakfast perfect. The staff were extremely professional, yet friendly, we couldn’t fault anything. We are especially grateful to Simona who contacted our transfer taxi company on our behalf who had sent us an evening pick up time instead of late morning for Sunday 19th April. She averted what might have been a huge disaster calmly, nothing was too much trouble. We wish to convey our thanks to reception, bell hops, waiters & our lovely room maid. Many thanks to all.
