Disappointing Check-in and Room Allocation, but Good Location
Pros:

The hotel's location is excellent. It is conveniently close to the West Coast Wilderness Railway station, the town centre, restaurants, and other attractions, making it easy to explore Queenstown on foot.
Although we had an issue at check-in, I would like to thank the male staff member at reception who handled the situation professionally. After listening to our concerns, he upgraded us to a room with the proper size and bedding, which made our stay much more comfortable. His excellent customer service turned our experience around.

Cons:

We booked and fully paid for a larger room through Booking.com three days before our arrival, based on the photos and room description. However, at check-in we were offered a much smaller, lower-grade room and were told that our booked room had already been given to someone else.
When I asked the female receptionist why this had happened, she said they were not aware of Booking.com reservations and that their system did not reflect those bookings. I explained that Booking.com sells the rooms based on the hotel's own availability and information, but instead of providing a clear explanation or solution, she simply offered us a complimentary drink.
As we were travelling from Hobart with two adults and one child, we had specifically booked the larger room to ensure a comfortable night's rest after a long journey. Fortunately, when I spoke with another staff member later, he understood the issue and resolved it promptly by providing us with a suitable room.
The room itself could also be improved. There were no ironing facilities, no wardrobe or cupboard to store clothes, and the coffee-making area had poor lighting, making it less convenient to use.

Lovely old pub central to Main Street. Beautiful Blackwood staircase. Comfy and clean. Good pub meals.

The fire alarm went off at 830 pm and again at 0500! I guess you can’t predict that tho.

Pros:

The staff is friendly, the breakfast is good and the location is in the town center. Although the bathrooms are shared with others, they look like newly renovated and very spacious and clean.
