Nice hotel, lovely restaurant with great food.
Pros:

Nice, cosy feel. Restaurant and food were great. Nice to have the white company shampoo, etc. tea and coffee facilities were adequate.

Cons:

There was no welcome. We should have been advised there was a prom happening when we booked so we could have decided to book or not. The music was too loud when we went to bed and then the clear up of scraping tables and chairs after the event especially when we had an early start the next day was not very good at all. The exec suite bed was small and room small compared to the oversized bathroom which had no privacy screening! The pipes in the bedroom were boiling hot on a hot day - not good. And no telephone to contact reception even though the single room had one?!

Prior warning that events are booked in and how that will effect your stay needed. Room would be a lot more comforatble
Pros:

The hotel is nice and the grounds are well kept

Cons:

Our room did not have Air Conditioning. The radiator was turned off however the pipework that runs water to and from the radiators was still live so that was giving off heat all the time so the room was constantly hot. The desk fan provided was not sufficient and we had to sleep on top of the bed covers all night and it was still too hot. Because of this issue we had to have the window open, there was a wedding reception on and the music was very loud even in our room 2 floors up. There was no indication from check in staff or on booking.com that this would be the case. I think for a room costing £130, it is not un reasonable to expect to be able to modulate the room temp and also not be disturbed by events going on around the hotel. We were in room 25 for reference.

Good evening for relaxing and quiet but let down by breakfast
Pros:

Lovely quiet area for a relaxed night away!

Cons:

Breakfast let our stay down. The pastries were completely burnt, and the brown bed was stale and mouldy!

Nice hotel with friendly , helpful staff , the food was good too.
Pros:

The staff were very good and nothing appeared to much. The room we were allocated was nicely equipped but on the small side. The food in the restaurant and at breakfast was very nice . Price was reasonable

Cons:

Our double room was quite small , and even the staff acknowledge they usually used it for single travellers .

Good location for exploring Durham, we had a nice relaxed stay
Pros:

Very relaxed, the food options at the restaurant were very good

Cons:

The room got very hot with a pipe tvat run through the room, but with the help of a good fan and being able to open the sash window fully we were able to get comfy-ish
