Beautiful hotel, but our room was a major disappointment
We had been really looking forward to our stay at No. 15 by GuestHouse Bath, especially because we were on a special mother-and-daughter trip. I had chosen this boutique guesthouse because the rooms shown on the website looked so beautiful and full of character, and I had hoped it would be a special surprise for my daughter.
The service, however, was very good. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, particularly with parking and storing our luggage. We also really enjoyed the new cocktail bar, which is cosy and has a lovely atmosphere.
Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with our Guest Room.
The website describes the rooms as “Luxury Rooms at No. 15 Bath”, with eclectic design, artwork, beautiful wallpaper and individual character. This was a big part of why I chose the hotel.
Our room on the third floor was very different from what we had expected. It had a very low ceiling, bare walls with no artwork or wallpaper, and very little of the character or luxury we had associated with the hotel from the website. Most disappointing of all, the paint on the wooden floor was peeling badly, so it came off onto our feet and socks.
I completely understand that rooms can vary and that not every room can look exactly like the photographs. However, there was such a difference between the room we were given and the impression created by the website that it was difficult not to feel disappointed.
For a special mother-and-daughter trip, this was particularly upsetting. I had deliberately chosen No. 15 because I wanted the stay itself to feel special, and I was hoping for the beautiful, quirky and luxurious atmosphere that the hotel presents in its photographs and description.
The staff and common areas were lovely, but unfortunately our particular room did not live up to the expectations created by the hotel’s presentation. For us, the room made a significant difference to the overall experience.

L’hôtel est particulièrement bien situé. Proche du centre et sur une magnifique avenue. Le personnel est très sympathique et à l’écoute des clients. La chambre était petite, mais très propre et cosy.
Les plats servis au petit-déjeuner étaient très bons.
Nous aurions apprécié un peu plus de choix pour la partie buffet du petit-déjeuner.

The rooms were nice and beds very comfortable. Nice to have air con. The breakfast was also very good. Bar was great too! Special thank you to Matilda at reception. She was very friendly and helpful. All the staff were nice actually.

This was quite a disappointing stay. I feel like the hotel has good marketing but really doesn’t follow through on attention to detail. The hotel felt quite shabby and in need of renovation- lots of stains on the hallway carpets. The room was fine but not very well designed or cohesive- lots of visible wires and PAT test stickers, shabby record for record player. A lot of mould buildup in shower grouting and on shower screen.
Hotel location is superb. Parking is by meter close by. Very friendly staff including Matilda on reception. Good breakfast and comfortable bar for refreshments during the day.

L'hôtel est très mignon, la chambre particulièrement cosy, avec une décoration rétro assez originale. Le spa est juste fabuleux ! J'ai pu profiter d'un massage exceptionnel. Le quartier est au calme et très proche du centre. C'était ressourçant de séjourner là-bas. La machine à café est appréciable. Le coin pantry est agréable, même s'il était vide le matin. Ils ont accepté de me laisser une heure de plus la chambre pour profiter pleinement de mon massage, merci. Aucun souci pour laisser les bagages en consigne.
Les portes se ferment difficilement, impossible de le faire sans bruit. Il manque un petit extérieur.

This is our third time staying at Guest House in Bath. The team on site were lovely, helpful, generous with information and recommendations. Really loved staying here again plus the bed is divine! Perfect location too!

After our (2nd!!) flight was cancelled and we'd waited in the airport for 7hrs before being told they couldn't find us a hotel, No 15 was really a beacon in the darkness! We actually feel so thankful that we were kept waiting so long, because otherwise we might never have stayed here - we'd have found something closer.
From the moment our taxi pulled up we were greeted warmly into the most beautiful reception area and I knew we'd been extremely lucky.
The man who met us was exceptionally kind and friendly and genuinely made us feel like we had arrived home. His easy, but informative manner was just perfect! What a genuine asset he is to your guesthouse.
From the stunning entrance, to the most comfortable of rooms, glorious complimentary toiletries to a 'help yourself' pantry we couldn't fault a thing.
I feel that any other accommodation will pale in comparison to how we felt at No 15, so we may have shot ourselves in the foot by staying here! Despite all our recent travel woes we are already planning to come back to Bath and will absolutely be staying at No 15.
