The Waldorf Astoria Washington DC was the perfect way to start our vacation, and it exceeded our expectations in every way.
From the moment we arrived, the service was absolutely outstanding. Every interaction we had—from the bellmen to the front desk staff to the team at the bar—was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. It’s rare to find a hotel where every employee consistently delivers such a high level of hospitality, but that was certainly the case here.
We spent our first evening enjoying drinks and appetizers at the bar, and it was fantastic. The atmosphere was elegant and inviting, the food and cocktails were excellent, and the service was top-notch. It was the perfect place to unwind and begin our trip.
Check-in was seamless, the bellmen were attentive and helpful with our luggage, and the entire staff made us feel like valued guests throughout our stay. The hotel itself is stunning, blending historic grandeur with modern luxury, but what truly sets this property apart is the people who work there.
The Waldorf Astoria Washington DC delivered exactly the kind of experience you hope for when staying at a luxury hotel. It provided a memorable start to our journey, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for exceptional service, beautiful accommodations, and a truly first-class experience in Washington, DC
Stayed here for one night. The room is extremely well-lit and impressive with the high ceilings and windows. It was very clean. Wifi was fast and reliable. The location is convenient for the attractions on the National Mall, as museums are just one street away. There was only a low hum of traffic from the street outside (not bothersome); there was no noise from other rooms.
The gym is large with a variety of machines and plenty of bottled water, as well as some fruit. The breakfast at the restaurant (Peacock Alley) is good but quite expensive even for the quality.
Overall, the stay was excellent but worth checking if there are other comparable options at a potentially much lower price point.

From the first meeting at the front door to the Front desk to room service just a amazing experience.
I left the JW Marriott in Washington to move to the Waldorf Astoria because their attention to detail was just so much better although I the Marriott. Their staff was not able to answer questions and give me the service I needed at the Waldorf Astoria we were welcomed at thedoor by Brian who said welcome home and I knew at that moment I would never stay any place else again when I am in DC I of course had a lovely dinner and a lovely lunch at the Peacock restaurant and did some shopping with mahi at the gift shop and it was the most delightful experience not only did she help me find gift for my husband, but she was so delightful more than delightful. She is now a newfound friend forever so if you’re reading this long review your wise and you spend your money wisely because you love good service and excellence if that’s the case I recommend highly that you stay at Waldorf Astoria.
Wow — there truly are not enough wonderful words to describe the kindness of the staff at this hotel. Alexandros, who assisted me at check-in, went absolutely above and beyond throughout my entire stay. Not only was he warm and welcoming upon arrival, but he also remembered me during my stay and repeatedly checked in to make sure I was well taken care of and enjoying everything. That level of attentiveness and genuine hospitality is incredibly rare and deeply appreciated.
It is because of exceptional staff members like Alexandros that I have stayed at this hotel previously and will continue to make it my hotel of choice whenever I visit Washington, DC. My room was spectacular, with an unforgettable iconic view to wake up to each morning. Breakfast was delicious as well, but what truly sets this hotel apart is the kindness, professionalism, and attentiveness of the staff.
This stay was absolutely wonderful, and I am already looking forward to returning.
This is not a five star experience. You would think for this kind of money, they would have a sauna and a steam room that you could use after using the fitness center. There’s a steam room in the spa, but they use this as a money grab you have to pay $120 for a day pass to get access. Frankly, that’s unacceptable for a five stars establishment. Fitness enthusiasts, if you value the use of a sauna or a steam room after your workout, go elsewhere.
Rooms Need Renovation - improve Food Quality
We are staying at this hotel in an upgraded one bedroom suite room. So needs a nice renovation! Toilets are rusty, TVS are all old - outdated and not Smart TV’s. No full length mirrors unless you book a signature suite. Told they had problems with full length mirrors breaking. Really?
Rooms so badly need a refresh! Sleep sofa in our room badly stained and had our adult son for one evening. It had sharp lumpy coils with the thinnest stained mattress on it. Awful. Befitting for a 2-3 star hotel at best. Stained mattress pad provided. Ugh.
Food quality soo bad. We had the worst bagel breakfast sandwiches ($28.00) ever. Microwaved frozen bagel with the soggiest inedible one egg smothered with cream cheese and a mushy yucky avocado type spread slopped on the bagel. ($28.00) It was awful- truly. We both left the mess on our plates and ate elsewhere. Another morning I ordered room service for standard eggs, bacon, toast and coffee. ($72.00) for one person. Eggs were cold. Breakfast potatoes yuck. I ate the English muffin.
Sooo disappointing. This is such a beautiful historic hotel with a lovely Lobby area and harp musician and such wonderful staff - so Nice and accommodating and friendly.
Quality though of the rooms and food? Just not there.
Such a Shame!
Wonderful Anniversary Stay
Dear Team,
We recently stayed at your hotel to celebrate our 23rd anniversary, and we had an absolutely wonderful experience.
Our room was upgraded to a beautiful King Studio Suite (Room 744), which made our celebration even more special. A special thank you to Ahmed at reception for his outstanding hospitality. He explained everything clearly and arranged all the amenities perfectly for us.
The hotel is truly luxurious, and we also enjoyed dining at Peacock Alley Bar. The food and service were excellent.
Thank you once again for making our anniversary memorable. We highly recommend this beautiful hotel and look forward to returning again.
From the moment we arrived at the hotel, Anteneh made us feel incredibly welcomed and special. He was the first person we met when we pulled up — he opened our car doors, helped with our bags, and when he found out we were celebrating our wedding, he immediately brought us glasses of champagne to celebrate.
What really stood out was how genuine and thoughtful he was. He told us that after our wedding the next day, he would be there again with another glass of champagne to celebrate with us. It was such a small but meaningful gesture that truly made a difference in our stay and made us feel cared for during such a special time in our lives.
Exceptional hospitality like his is what people remember long after a trip is over. Thank you, Anteneh, for helping make our wedding stay so memorable!
My stay at the Waldorf Astoria Washington DC was nothing short of exceptional.
From the moment I arrived, the level of service set the tone for the entire experience. Gulchin and Neil at the front desk were absolutely outstanding—warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making my stay seamless. Their professionalism, combined with a personal touch, made a lasting impression and truly elevated the check-in experience.
One of the highlights of the stay was time spent at Peacock Alley. The atmosphere is refined yet inviting, and the service there was impeccable. Every detail—from presentation to attentiveness—felt thoughtful and intentional, creating a memorable and elevated experience.
The rooms themselves are spacious, beautifully maintained, and exceptionally clean. There is a sense of comfort and quiet luxury throughout. While the design still feels elegant, a light refresh or update would bring it fully in line with the otherwise world-class experience the hotel delivers.
Overall, this is a truly outstanding property with service that stands out even among luxury hotels. I will absolutely be returning—and confidently recommend it to anyone looking for a refined, high-level stay in Washington, DC.
My husband and I stayed at the Waldorf this week for business meetings. The room was wonderful, the hotel is beautiful and they staff is truly top notch. Jered at the bar remembered our names day after day. Brian out front is such a kind converser and he also remembers names. I think these are very important touches to make guests feel very welcome!
My husband and I stayed at the Waldorf Astoria for the Cherry Blossom 10 mile run. We were chatting with Erin about the run while she checked us into our room and she offered to send up some immunity shots help us prepare. This was such a thoughtful and kind gesture that went a long way. She also sent us a fruit plate as we were talking about how bananas help prevent muscle cramping. Not only did we feel more welcome to the city, it showed that she cared about us not only as guests, but as individuals. It was an incredible and personable experience that made our trip, his run and our time in DC fantastic. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Waldorf and Erin!
We had the most wonderful family trip to Washington, DC, and our stay at the Waldorf Astoria truly made it unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. We were generously upgraded to a beautiful suite, which was perfect for our family and made our stay feel extra special. The hotel itself is stunning and impeccably maintained. Every detail feels thoughtful and luxurious without being overdone. What truly set this experience apart was the concierge team. They were outstanding. From securing hard-to-get restaurant reservations to helping us plan museum visits and tickets, they made everything seamless and stress-free.
The location is unbeatable. We were a few blocks from the White House and within easy walking distance to the museums, which made exploring the city incredibly convenient for our family. We left feeling so grateful for such a memorable experience and cannot wait to return.
