Staff were lovely very nice hotel

My husband simply asked for salt and pepper because we saved our breakfast in our room and the reply from staff was they were not able to provide because they are in the restaurant
A hotel shoild be hospitable to guests
I opted for the shared toilet/shower facilities and found both the room and shared ablutions to be very well maintained. Previous stay with en suite room wasn’t so good.

We paid 91 pounds for one night and did not worth that value.

Evening meal was average but reasonably priced.
The breakfasts were very good and if we didn't want a cooked breakfast they would do sandwiches or baguettes to take away which we found to be very handy. The room was cleaned and made up daily by the exceptionally good house keepers.
We could tell a lot of the staff was not happy in their job, hardly a happy face. On one occasion when we went in for breakfast the waitress called out to us in a raised voice, three times from the other side of the restaurant for us to go to table one, which was directly in front of the workstation from where they get the plates and cutlery from, so we couldn't hear each other talking very well. The waitress must have thought we knew where table one was but as we had no idea, that's why she kept repeating herself making us feel like idiots in front of the other guests. The following day that same waitress kept us waiting for a table while she was laying out some tables for lunchtime, this was annoying as she had seen us standing there. That happened most days as it appears getting tables ready for the evening meal is more important than sitting guests down for breakfast.

There was no one to serve us at the bar we had to go into the restaurant to ask. There was no one in the spa we had to wait for someone to turn up. Went to the bar again in the evening again no one there
