One of the Worst Hotel Experiences- Avoid

I rarely write negative reviews, but my stay at Camelot Beach Hotel left me with no choice. From the moment we checked in, things went wrong. We were shifted across three different rooms because of water leaking from the roof — completely unacceptable for a hotel charging guests for a comfortable stay.

The hygiene situation was alarming. Street dogs were wandering freely inside the hotel, and I watched them drinking water directly from the pool — the same pool where my children and I had been swimming. As a parent, this was deeply disturbing and a serious health concern.

The reception staff were painfully slow and unhelpful every time we approached them. The worst part: I lost one of my bags during the room shuffle, and when I reported it, they simply said they didn't know anything about it. I asked them to check the CCTV footage, and even that request went nowhere.

Overall, this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a hotel. Between the leaking rooms, the unsanitary pool situation, the unresponsive staff, and a lost bag that no one would help me trace, I cannot recommend this place to anyone — especially families with children.

Goed verblijf gehad!

Wij hebben hier maar 1 nacht geslapen. Kamer oké, bed goed. Restaurant goed, eten goed, zeer uitgebreid ontbijtbuffet. Mooie zwembaden, ligbedden met fatsoenlijke kussens. Mooi zicht op zee vanaf je bedje. Drankje mogelijk bij het zwembad. Ontzettend vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel.
Wij hadden een behoorlijke vertraging. We konden terug komen bij het hotel, gebruik maken van alles zonder extra kosten! Geweldig. Mooi buitengebied rondom het zwembad.

Cons:

Het is idd op sommige punten wat verouderd maar dat is geen uitzondering in SriLanka. Zeker de buitenkant (zicht vanaf zwembad) zou een flinke opknapbeurt kunnen gebruiken. Afbreuk van de rest wat er wel gewoon oké uit ziet. Strand is wat minder mooi. Veel troep…. Maar prachtige zwembaden maken dat goed.

היה נוראי , אי אפשר היה לנשום בחדר. הגענו מטיסה מאוחר בלילה ישנו כמה שעות ועפנו משם.

החדרים נוראיים בריח של עובש ותחב . המקלחות לא מאווררות ויש עובד נוראי סירחון וחנק שאי אפשר לנשום בחדר. החדר מלוכלך גושי שיער על הריצפה ובנוסף יתושים, כך שאי אפשר לפתוח חלון ואי אפשר כשהכל סגור.

Es hat uns gut gefallen wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Die Pools sind wirklich schön. Das Meer ist nicht wirklich zum schwimmen aber man kann schön dort liegen mit Blick auf das Meer.
Sonst hat uns alles sehr gut gefallen.

Staff at the pool were lovely. Pool is lovely and clean and the towel guy looks after you. Nice to have a pool bar. Plenty of bars and restaurants outside the hotel to visit.

Cons:

Reception staff werent the friendliest. Price was considerably higher on arrival than quoted on Booking.com! Be aware! The sea is wild and not swimable and the beach is pretty grotty
