The staff was lovely. Warm, friendly and helpful. The location is excellent...a few blocks from the Lincoln Memorial end of the national mall, near George Washington University and a number of good places to eat. Easy metro access.
This should be listed in a separate category like a hobbyist hotel. The rooms are very small although I was told when we checked out you could call ahead and ask for a larger room. This felt like a capsule hotel you could stand up in. Reminded my husband of his days in the submarine and me of our times riding in 2nd class sleeper cars in Europe. The room is a bed. There is nowhere to sit except the bed. No place to put your suitcase except on the bed. Nowhere to put clothes so you end up living out of your suitcase. Had to crawl over partner to get to bathroom from the bed. The bathroom sink is one of those quarter sized sinks you see in trains. The shower however was a generous size. Needless to say, this is the perfect hotel not to spend any time in your room. But, it was clean. The bed was comfortable. The staff was nice. The location good.

Hive is funky. No cookie cutter business hotel. Has personality. They revel in the compactness. Room was really quite small (as advertised) but perfectly comfortable for us. Great shower. Breakfast area (free coffee!) very pleasant; service v good, friendly. Pizza looked good (we never got around to having it). Rooftop space was fabulous on the one day when we had good weather. A real bonus! Location in heart of George Washington University, a couple blocks to The Mall & Lincoln and Kennedy Performing Arts Center, A mile or so to the major Smithsonian museums, was perfect for our needs.

We were really impressed by Hotel Hive and the proximity of it to the the mall in DC. The hotel is located on the edge of GW university but it was surprisingly very quiet and clean. The surrounding neighborhoods felt very safe and we never not once felt unsafe walking around the area late at night. The room was very clean and everything just worked and was as expected. I would 100% recommend this hotel if your main interests are exploring the mall and want a comfortable stay. Added bonus is the on-site facilities like the bar and restaurant.
The immediate neighborhood is pretty much just student housing but it you are willing to walk a couple blocks you will find a lively food/drink scene.
Lovely little room with great amenities, really clean and comfortable. Location is convenient, nearby all tourist destinations. Staff were very helpful and friendly, gave tips on where to visit.
Absolutely LOVED our stay here!!! I will book it again for sure. Parking on the street outside was easy to find right in front of the entrance, but they also have a loading zone to park in for bringing in luggage.
When we checked in, the front desk staff member Rhea (sp?) was super friendly and helpful! She gave me a rundown of where to go and mentioned if I need anything, like a mini fridge, they’d send it up to my room. Great! We got one and it worked amazingly well. Note that the mini fridge is very small, great for some sodas we brought.
The elevator is tiny but it’s really interesting! The walls are glass and the shaft walls were painted in a graffiti style that was so fun to look at as we went up to the 5th floor!
Our room was spacious with beautifully clean, white linens on the bed. The bed was comfortable, but a little hard on the surface for me. Surprisingly quiet room for a city too. We slept well.
The bathroom was a little small, but it was clean and comfortable and the shower got real hot! Score!
The free coffee situation left much to be desired, but there’s coffee shops in walking distance.
For dinner (every night of our stay) we had &pizza, which is within the hotel. AMAZING!!! I’ve been starved for GOOD pizza where I live and this pizza hit!!
Guest service is incredibly attentive, kind, friendly, from the front desk, pizza shop, bars, and room service attendants.
They brought a mini fridge to our room and it worked perfectly.
Room is beautiful, simple, elegant, and clean.
Street parking was close and easy to find.
Shower nice n hot!
The windows were big and let lots of beautiful light in.
Bed linens were very clean and comfortable.
AC was awesome and we could make it super cold in the room.
Surprisingly quiet for a major city. We slept soundly.
We ate &pizza every day of our stay! It was actually part of why we booked here because the pizza looked so delicious and it exceeded our expectations for flavor, texture, and variety!
Could do with larger/more mirrors
The curtains were wonky and hard to close/open without significant effort, just on one side. Maybe just needs a touch of silicone grease on the curtain rod.
Bed could use a foam or feather topper because it was hard on the surface
Low water pressure in shower and the bathroom door hits the shower door.
TV channels had no commercial free options and we wanted to just connect our phones to the tv but couldn’t figure that out then realized the tv had no wifi connection.
The hotel was a unique micro-hotel. The atmosphere was clean, friendly, and welcoming. Enjoyed my stay at this hotel.
We wish that parking had been a bit easier, as we had to park down the road and around the corner.
