The staff were friendly and helpful and we were even offered a refreshing drink as we arrived on a hot day. The location is excellent for the centre of Bristol as we were going to a concert at The Beacon. The restaurant was not available but they communicated this to us beforehand and was not a problem as the hotel is near a lot of excellent restaurants. I enjoyed using the spa facilities but they are very small which is why you have to book.
Unfortunately our room was in a corner on the 3rd floor next to the lift which was noisy at times and did affect our sleep. The walls had some peeling paint in the corners and there was a slight smell of damp, so a refresh would be suggested.
The location is perfect and the reception staff and staff in general very helpful.
We paid for a suite as it was my birthday trip - definitely not worth the extra cost. At almost £200 per night this “suite” was massively overpriced! It wasn’t a suite at all just had an extra sofa at the end of the bed!
The shower completely flooded the bathroom into the bedroom twice as it didn’t drain. We had to have maintenance up twice as a result of this so we are not sure what maintenance did the first time if anything at all to fix this but it was the same the next morning.
All the lights in the room flickered constantly which for someone like me with sensory issues is a major issue. Maintenance did sort this once we complained however.
There was only one space for the luggage rack - behind the door and we only had one medium size bag with us which when on the luggage rack you then couldn’t open the door!
The coffee machine was on a slide out tray in the cupboard that unless you then removed everything else off of that and put the machine at an angle you couldn’t put the drip tray down flat.
Location excellent
Small lift
Location perfect
Carpet in room, musty sofa and cushions
Location
Noisy I did ask for a quiet room. I know this is in the city, but there was a noise all night and they put our bedroom on a corridor where the doors come up from the lift and entrance we was then woke up every morning and night by loud guests.
Stylish boutique feel in a stunning building. Staff were lovely- they left me a good luck note and some chocolates as they knew I was going in for major surgery the following morning. So thoughtful and much appreciated!

Room was splendid. Location of hotel just right not too far from the station and very close to Bristol Beacon and The Hippodrome and in the Old City. Staff very friendly and helpful. Definitely the place to stay next time.
Nothing could have been better. Loved everything about the splendid hotel building and the proximity to places we were going to
Got upgraded to a bigger room. Bed was so comfy and the upstairs bathroom was very well laid out and clean
Staff were lovely. So helpful and friendly.
Bed was the best bed I have slept in. I did not want to wake up
Nothing. Loved it all. They upgraded us it so was a lovely surprise.
Pretty much all
Location was brilliant
Reception staff was amazing
It’s an old building so it’s a bit rundown.
Slightly annoying that there is a charge for the spa when it’s advertised as a spa hotel
Location was amazing and close to everything that you need. The team there were polite and lovely. Tge room i was in was lovely, but the sofa in there could do with a clean, curtains were coming off the rail. The bathroom was amazing with bath and shower.
The food was not very goof, i ordered poached eggs and they came hard boiled. Such a shame as the hotel was lovely.
