Upon check in we charged $330 security deposit to which we agreed but they then tried to take 2 further payments of $116 each (unauthorised) whilst we were on our way to the room, these were declined so we thought no more of it. During check out we were handed a bill for $90 city taxes etc and advised that the balance would be refunded to our card, it wasn't, and they have ingored all of our emails and are even refusing to supply information regarding any charges to our travel agents, legal action is being sought. The hotel is generally shaby and needs a lot of work. Constant 24/7 running water inside the bathroom wall, coming from the foors above. Noisy aircon which we had to switch off to able to sleep and we also had to unplug the fridge because of the noise. During our 3 night stay we did not have any room service. The breakfast that was offered as an extra looked pretty dire so we declined, we ate around the corner, plenty of good choice within a couple of blocks. Drug addicts had been sleeping on the sofa's outside the lobby and they left all their drug paraphernalia on the sofa which wasn't cleared by housekeeping until gone midday, the only upside to that was that it proved that they did in fact have housekeeping.
The hotel was very well located, walking distance to the Canal St. Sreetcar line, buses and the French Quarter. The room and bathroom were large and the beds were comfortable; however, the furniture and fixtures in the room have seen better days. Complimentary coffee and tea were available at reception every morning, as well as bags of ice upon request. The restaurants were closed, as advertised, but it did lend to a dreary feeling in the reception and lobby area and the hotel felt like it was operating in a "closing down" mode. A great discovery was a nearby convenience store, where you could get breakfast, water, juice, snacks, etc at good prices.
During my stay at The Troubadour Hotel (March 19–22, 2026), I reported multiple issues directly to the front desk.
Upon arrival, I was informed that none of the in-room safes were functioning due to an ongoing overhaul. Despite this, the hotel maintained that they were not responsible for guest belongings, leaving us without any secure storage option. We requested that staff not enter our room due to the lack of accountability for our belongings; however, staff entered our room multiple times regardless, and these incidents were reported to the front desk.
Additionally, the television and in-room phones were not working. These issues were reported, and maintenance acknowledged that the phone system required reprogramming; however, no repairs were completed during our stay.
At approximately 2:00 AM going into Friday morning, I began requesting washcloths and basic toiletries. I was told they would be available in the morning. However, at 8:30 AM, there were still none available. We were later informed that the laundry company would be delivering items later, but this information was not communicated clearly, and staff repeatedly avoided providing a direct answer.
As a result, we were forced to leave the hotel and purchase basic necessities. Upon returning, the only staff member who provided assistance was a front desk associate named Bishop, who was eventually able to provide toiletries on the second day.
The room was also not properly stocked overall, as we did not receive basic necessities such as toilet tissue, washcloths, soap, or shampoo until late the second day.
Additionally, I did not receive notice that key amenities—including all food and beverage options and the rooftop lounge—would be unavailable until after the reservation had already been purchased. I also provided documentation of that communication.
Despite reporting these concerns during the stay, the hotel failed to resolve them, including the non-functioning safe system, phone system, and television.
This experience did not meet acceptable hospitality standards.
I then requested a full refund due to the failure to provide essential services and basic day-to-day necessities and it was not granted. Don’t waste your money.
The stay at this hotel was horrible, we stayed for my birthday March 6th-9th.
The room we were giving looked nothing like the pictures, only one elevator worked so you had to wait 5-10 mins for one to come or take the stairs.
There was no pool access no rooftop lounge access no restaurant access. We were not told these amenities were not available until after we booked the hotel. Everything about the hotel was a waste of money.
Also they had two bottles of water in the room no note that said we would be charged if we drank them but they did charge 40$ for restock of the bottles of water.
Definitely will not return or recommend
Nothing
They double booked rooms and had me walk in a room with someone already showering.
The Staff
The room had mold or black stains in the sink, everything was closed. The restaurant, the roof top pool. The room was cold heat didn't work and still no discounts.
It was close to everything
That it was under construction and had a weird smell
location
carpet old and room smells.. restaurant and roof top not open
Loved it , very clean and everyone is so pleasant. Was not in the room much , Loved the bath tub highly needed with all the walking . Will be much better when the roof top opens back up , But all in all it was a great spot . Location on point as well half hour walk to the river but lots of stores in between
When I arrived close to midnight, I was TWICE given a key card to rooms that were already occupied. Which I discovered when I went up to the rooms and woke people up trying to break into their rooms!
After an hour of this, I was told the hotel was overbooked and my reservation was released. Keep in mind I’d prepaid and that it was after midnight in an unfamiliar city.
Very disappointed. I can see that this was a beautiful boutique style hotel at some point but either due to poor management or poor ownership this place has fallen apart. The staff are kind and friendly and we appreciated that we were able to check in early upon our return to the hotel after our cruise but the second room did not compare to the first room we had when we arrived before our cruise. Light fixture was out, the AC panel left a huge gap from the wall, the door handle was broken, the outlets were poor, the bathroom floor was sloped (not sure if this was intentional in the handicap room but the water pooled to the carpet in the room which I can only imagine creates some mold).
Handy and staff was extremely helpful.
Sheets stained 1st night and had to move due to no electricity to our room. We moved ourselves.
